Apprenticeship training has a wide range of applications and a large number of trainees, and can make use of existing equipment and technology, so many countries have apprenticeship training systems. Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, more than 80% of new skilled workers in China have been trained through apprenticeship training.

The disadvantage of apprenticeship training is that it focuses on technical operation training, while theoretical learning is insufficient, thus limiting the breadth and depth of learning.
