How to introduce Kaifeng in English
Kaifeng, formerly known by several names (see below), is a prefecture-level city in the east of Henan Province, People's Republic of China (PRC). Located on the south bank of the Yellow River, it is adjacent to Zhengzhou, the provincial capital in the west, Xinxiang in the northwest, Shangqiu in the east, Zhoukou in the southeast, Xuchang in the southwest and Shandong Province in the northeast.

Kaifeng is one of the seven ancient capitals in China. Like Beijing, there have been many reconstructions in history.

In 364 BC, during the Warring States Period, Wei established a city called Daliang as its capital in this area. During this period, the first canal was built in this area, connecting a local river with the Yellow River. When Wei was conquered by Qi, Kaifeng was destroyed and abandoned, except for a medium-sized market town, which still existed.

As early as the 7th century, when Kaifeng was connected with the Grand Canal, and by building a canal to the west of Shandong Province, Kaifeng was transformed into a major commercial center.
