Kaifeng is one of the seven ancient capitals in China. Like Beijing, there have been many reconstructions in history.
In 364 BC, during the Warring States Period, Wei established a city called Daliang as its capital in this area. During this period, the first canal was built in this area, connecting a local river with the Yellow River. When Wei was conquered by Qi, Kaifeng was destroyed and abandoned, except for a medium-sized market town, which still existed.
As early as the 7th century, when Kaifeng was connected with the Grand Canal, and by building a canal to the west of Shandong Province, Kaifeng was transformed into a major commercial center.
