Pingyang Puppet Troupe, formerly known as Pingyang Leshengshe Puppet Troupe, was founded in the eighth year of the Republic of China (A.D. 19 19) and its owner was Xu Rendu. Ren Xu is from the town of "Ma bu" or horse stance just look in our county. Since he was a teenager, he has been learning puppet skills with a teacher. Because he was smart and eager to learn, he was very famous in Pingyang puppet art world during Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty. From the operation (performance) of the puppet in the foreground to the drum board in the background, he plays, beats, pulls, knocks and beats subtly. In the early years of the Republic of China, dozens of local youths worshipped him as a teacher and studied puppet shows because of his superb acting skills. Most of them are children of families, so it is impossible for so many people to take classes to study. So while performing, he used the off-duty performance season to open a puppet class at home. After six-month classes twice a year, students will be dispersed to other puppet classes to practice with their classes. These formally trained students have certain basic knowledge and skills of puppets and are welcomed by puppet classes.

19 19 autumn, nine outstanding students, including Xu Yufeng, Mei Yushan, Xu Jiaqing, Xu Youshi and Xu Jialuan, were selected to form the open puppet class of Pingyang Music Society.

After the establishment of the public course, all his possessions accumulated for decades have been put into the wardrobe construction of his class. Because of his new wardrobe, young cast members, high-level performing arts and more formal plays, he gained a reputation in Pingyang County. In order to expand the performance market, the province has performed in Wenzhou, Taizhou, Ningbo, Hangzhou, Jinhua, Lishui and other places, while outside the province, it has performed in Fujian and Jiangxi. Every performance was welcomed by the local people. Therefore, since its birth, this class has not been divided into off-season and peak season all year round, and has been invited to perform everywhere all year round.

By 1930, Mr. Xu Rendu died of fatigue and illness in his hometown of "Horse stance just look". His nephew Xu Jiaqing took over as monitor. Xu Jiaqing is both his nephew and his protege.

After Xu Jiaqing became the monitor, he took a cargo ship to Taiwan Province Province in Aojiang on 1932 and toured in Taiwan Province Province, because most of the performances in Taiwan Province Province were Minnan puppet shows and Gaojia puppet shows, and the puppet shows in the open class of Vocal Music Club had their own unique styles in repertoire, performance style and musical singing, which were warmly welcomed by the audience in Taiwan Province Province. The performance in Taiwan Province won high praise, and people from all over the world rushed to invite them to perform, only to be blocked by the Japanese everywhere. Once, Xu Youshi, a young actor in the troupe, and Japanese soldiers ignored him, and Xu Youshi was beaten all over by Japanese soldiers. The actors in the troupe were very angry and just left Taiwan Province Province to take a merchant ship back to Aojiang River. Because of his serious illness, Xu Youshi was blind and had to leave his beloved puppet class to make a living as a busker. Later, in the anti-Japanese struggle, he exposed the crimes of the Japanese aggressors and actively promoted anti-Japanese.

1945 After War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's victory, Pingyang Musical Society Puppet Class was renamed as Pingyang Xinmin Muppet Class, and the class owners were Xu Jiaqing and Xu Jialuan. Together with all the members of the puppet class, I beat drums and set off firecrackers with special excitement, and participated in the parade to celebrate the victory of the Anti-Japanese War!

From 65438 to 0949, when Wenzhou was liberated, they were registered as "Wenzhou Xinmin Muppet Troupe" in Wenzhou. During their stay in Wenzhou, they were the first puppets to join the home of Wenzhou local drama artists, and the members joined the Wenzhou Opera Association. The artist returned to Pingyang when he registered. 1955, the puppet show "Broken Bridge" performed by the troupe was selected by the province to participate in the national puppet shadow play. Xu Jiaqing played Xu Xian, Zhang Zengzhou played The Legend of the White Snake, and Xu Jialuan played The Green Snake, which was the first performance in Beijing and was a great success. It has been well received by the leaders and experts of the conference (there is no award at the conference).

After this performance in Beijing, Xu Jiaqing was accepted as a member of the Chinese Dramatists Association.

1958, Xu Jiaqing resigned as the head of the regiment due to old age and infirmity, and Zheng Tongxing, the drummer in the regiment, served as the head. 1959, the Provincial Department of Culture sent Pingyang Xinmin Puppet Troupe and Pingyang Bao Troupe to Hangzhou, and performed the puppet show "Water Manjin Mountain" and the puppet show "Song Wu Da Hu" for 16 foreign guests including Poland at Hangzhou International Hotel, which was appreciated and praised by foreign guests.

1963, Pingyang Xinmin Puppet Troupe toured Zhejiang Province, with newly arranged repertoires such as The Legend of the White Snake, The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, Taking Huashan Mountain by Intelligence, and modern plays such as Jinsha River, Cockcrow and Liberation of Jiangshan. And rehearsed in the provincial cultural department, every place was full, with an average of three to four performances a day.

During the Cultural Revolution, he entered the Duzheng cadre school and was later dissolved.

1978, Pingyang county government decided to resume the establishment of Pingyang county puppet troupe, bring back the scattered old puppet artists, and recruit a group of young students who graduated from junior and senior high schools, headed by Zhuo Naijin.

198 1 year, their newly arranged puppet children's play "One Hour flies" participated in the national puppet shadow play and won thirteen awards. The play also went to Zhongnanhai to give a report performance for NPC deputies and CPPCC members, and People's Daily published a comment on the success of the performance.

From 65438 to 0992, Pingyang Puppet Troupe performed "Shui Jin Man Shan" in Beijing for the third time and won more than ten awards, which was praised as "a wonderful work of art" by the leaders of the Ministry of Culture.

1997, the troupe was selected by the Ministry of Culture to participate in the "1 1 International Puppet Festival" held in Mexico, and performed "Clockwork Every Time" and "Song of the Blue Star", with a performance of 14, which attracted tens of thousands of Mexican audiences. In 200 1 and 2002, they were hired to tour France, Southeast Asia, Singapore and other countries.

In 2003, the troupe rehearsed the puppet show "Magic Queling", participated in the performance of the second national puppet "Golden Lion Award", and won back two gold medals in drama and performance.

Pingyang puppet show has a history of more than 800 years, which gradually developed and matured under the influence of Wenzhou South Opera. Pingyang Puppet Troupe is 85 years old this year, having gone from 19 19 to today. After liberation, under the leadership of the Party, especially since the 1980s, this ancient puppet show has finally become a cultural brand with local characteristics in Wenzhou, enjoying a good reputation at home and abroad.
