Kaiyuan Middle School is a new school jointly founded by Changning District Education Bureau and Huayang Road Community Education Committee on August 20 14, 1992. "Kaiyuan Model" has a great influence in education and even in society. Since the establishment of the school 13 years ago, with the concern of the city leaders in many aspects and the extensive participation of the society, all the teaching staff are determined to reform and strive for progress, and have won a good social reputation. In April 2003, it was officially named Shanghai Quality Education Experimental School by Shanghai Education Commission, which fully affirmed the achievements made by the school in recent years.
Kaiyuan School is characterized by wind music, sports and fine arts. There is a local influential and large-scale student band, with nearly 150 students participating in the training every day. The band also gave many lectures and artistic performances in Shanghai Concert Hall and Yunfeng Theatre.
