I. Art Exhibition Planning
This stage can be subdivided into two steps:
1, planning suggestion
What kind of exhibition to hold and why to hold this exhibition must first have an idea. Under normal circumstances, the curator is responsible for putting forward the exhibition ideas, formulating the research outline and submitting the preliminary plan.
At the library affairs meeting, the curator should explain his ideas, reasons and fund-raising to the management, and persuade the management to agree to further research and promotion. In the management practice of other enterprises, this step is equivalent to establishing a project, which is the basis of project development.
2. Conception and creation
Everything is established in advance, and it is abolished if it is not foreseen. This step is the perfection of the exhibition scheme, which needs full consideration and careful arrangement. General thinking angles can include academic, operational, compliance, financial and other aspects, and list some key issues respectively.
1) Academic aspects
A. state the important concepts of the exhibition;
B. explore the highlights of the content;
C. Draw up a list of exhibits and an exhibition outline;
D extract 3-4 key messages you want to convey to the audience in the outline. This step is very important, because all the contents and activities are related to the extracted key information, so as to highlight what the exhibition wants the audience to know.
2) operational aspects
A. Project team: In the exhibition curation process, a trinity team work mode of "curator+explanation planner)+designer" will be formed, forming a certain "external brain";
B. Formal design: Formal design includes at least three sets of display design and poster design schemes. This part is completed by the designer;
3) Compliance
A. Legal compliance: For example, it is necessary to evaluate whether the exhibits involve endangered species, and if so, it is necessary to reserve enough time for declare in advance CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species).
B. Site compliance: including the provision of facility reports and other documents, as well as the evaluation of borrowers.
C. draft an exhibition contract.
4) Financial aspects
A. draw up the exhibition budget;
B. find sponsorship partners and cooperation methods. Projects with academic value are easily supported by the government, and cultural and artistic funds and large enterprises are also common sponsorship channels.
Second, the development and implementation of art exhibitions
This is the stage of implementing the exhibition, and it can also be subdivided into two steps.
1, development and popularization
There are many things, which can be summarized from both internal and external perspectives.
1)
A. Draw up a marketing plan and confirm that the online and offline content exposure meets the target and does not deviate from the theme. At this time, the marketing public relations department began to join the project team and play a role;
B. identify academic and audience strategies;
C. Put forward the "audience-oriented" exhibition interpretation strategy in the exhibition;
2) External
A. Sign an agreement with the lender to confirm the exhibition-related matters;
B. determine the transportation plan, which is usually the responsibility of the registrar of the collection department;
C. Determining insurance generally requires nailing (see here for art insurance);
D. Volunteer training, that is, curators and relevant scholars conduct guided training for volunteers;
E. apply for project funding;
2. Implementation
After the exhibits arrive at the designated place, the established work will be carried out in an orderly manner. There is a lot of on-site work at this stage, which requires the active participation of all departments of the venue, performing their duties and giving full play to the exhibition value.
III. Summary of Art Exhibition
The summary includes confirming whether the results meet the expectations and discussing the improvement. It is not only a review of the past, but also a guide to the future and an important management activity. The summary of the exhibition mainly includes the following three levels.
1, department summary
Curators, development, marketing, public relations, education and other departments summarize from their own perspectives and complete a final evaluation;
2. Project summary
Summarize the statement from the overall perspective of the exhibition, summarize the audience, whether the exhibition comes from the community, whether there are audiences from other States or countries, publicity effect, sponsorship and other achievement indicators, and analyze the success or failure;
3. Hall-level summary
At the collective meeting of the art exhibition, the exhibition team collectively reported and shared, providing feasibility report analysis for future exhibitions.
