One is from vagueness to clarity, and the other is from scratch. One is pragmatic, the other is imaginative, almost. Personally engaged in clay sculpture, my personal view is that sculpture needs painting skills, and perspective is more important. Sculpture doesn't need to learn sculpture, after all, there is still a big gap between the two. It's hard to say. You need to turn what you think into what you do. Understanding and imagination are more important.
