Cantonese is called Cantonese and Guangfu dialect in Guangdong. Cantonese is called vernacular in Guangxi. Cantonese is the mother tongue of Guangfu people in Guangdong and Cantonese people in Guangxi. Cantonese is widely used in central and western Guangdong, southeastern Guangxi, Hong Kong, Macao and some countries or regions in Southeast Asia, as well as overseas Chinese communities. The prominent feature of Cantonese geographical distribution is that it is distributed along the Yangtze River, with Guangzhou and Hong Kong as the center and spread in four ways: east, west and south.
1. Xijiang-Pearl River, that is, the area along the Xijiang River eastward to Panyu (Guangzhou), including Wuzhou and Hezhou in Guangxi, Zhaoqing, Fengkai, Deqing, Foshan, Guangzhou, Zhongshan, Zhuhai, Dongguan, Shenzhen and Jiangmen in Guangdong, and two special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macao.
2. Xijiang-yujiang county, that is, back to Xijiang, Jiang Xun and yujiang county to Jiaozhi County. Including Nanning, Chongzuo, Guigang, Wuzhou and most of their counties in Guangxi.
3. Beiliu River-Nanliu River. Including Guangxi Yulin, Beihai, Qinzhou, Fangchenggang and other cities and counties.
4. Nanjiang-Jianjiang, that is, go back to Nanjiang and cross the Yunkai Mountains to Jianjiang Valley. Including Yunfu, Maoming, Yunnan, Luoding, Xinyi, Gaozhou, Huazhou, Zhanjiang, Wuchuan and Lianjiang in Guangdong.
