Luoyang Railway Information Engineering School (formerly Luoyang Railway Electrical Engineering School), founded in 1973, is an ordinary secondary specialized school registered by the Ministry of Education. The school is located in Luoyang, the ancient capital of the Nine Dynasties. It is located in Chanhe District, Lao Dan City, where Confucius visited the Zhou Dynasty. It faces the majestic Mangshan Mountain in the north and the Longmen Grottoes, a world cultural heritage, across the river in the south. The campus is lush with flowers and trees, and the environment is neat and elegant. It was named as "quadrangle-style unit" by Luoyang Municipal People's Government. The school enrolls students for the whole country, and the educational system is 3 years for junior high school and 2 years for senior high school. In 2008, the number of students reached more than 4,000. At present, the school offers 12 majors: communication technology, computer communication, railway signal, urban rail transit signal, electrified railway power supply, optical fiber communication, computer network technology, computer and application, power supply technology, electronic technology application, electronic and information technology and electrical equipment installation. Among them, optical fiber communication, computer communication, railway signal and electrified railway power supply are in a leading position in the whole province and the whole railway industry. Our graduates are mainly oriented to the production, construction and maintenance units of railway, urban light rail, telecommunications, transportation, electric power and electronics industries. In recent years, the employment rate of graduates in our school is over 98%. Henan University of Science and Technology and Lanzhou Jiaotong University (formerly Lanzhou Railway Institute) have correspondence stations in our school, and Luoyang Institute of Technology and our school jointly run the "3+2" higher vocational college, which provides convenience for aspiring scholars to obtain higher education. In order to implement the spirit of the national vocational education work conference, the school has long insisted on providing technical training for railways and local enterprises and institutions. In 2004, branch schools were opened in Yanshi and Luoning counties, and enrollment began in that year, which made due contributions to promoting employment and reemployment, solving the "three rural issues", local construction and economic development. In 2000, it was rated as a provincial key secondary specialized school by the Henan Provincial Department of Education, and was awarded the titles of "Civilized Unit" and "Garden Unit" by Luoyang Municipal Government in the same year. In 2003, it was awarded the title of "Advanced Unit of Teaching and Scientific Research" by the Henan Provincial Department of Education, and in the same year, the Youth League Committee of our school was awarded the title of "May 4th Red Flag Youth League Committee" by the Central Enterprise Working Committee.
