Mu training
On September 4th, 2008, Mu Tiezhu, the "No.1 center in Asia" who once dominated the basketball court, left us forever because of a heart attack.

Four days later, he was buried in Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery.

Mu once joined the Bayi basketball team. Under his leadership, the Bayi men's basketball team defeated the American college star team twice and even scored 80 points in a game against Suzhou.

It happened that the farewell ceremony was the day before the Bayi basketball team went to Guangxi to prepare for the CBA warm-up match. The team deliberately delayed the trip by one day and arrived at the scene to pay tribute to the former big brother.

On that day, many famous domestic athletes put down their work anyway and came to the scene to pay tribute.

Mu Tiezhu's life is a story and a legend.

From June 65438 to June 0949, Mu was born in a poor family in Heze, Shandong.

At that time, it was stormy. Sister Mu came to Xinjiang with her family to make a living.

Mu and his sister became "frontier youths" in Xinjiang.

As the days passed, Mu Tiezhu grew taller and taller. He was 2.20 meters tall and ate twice as much as his family. In order to get enough food and clothing for three meals, in desperation, Mu Tiezhu had to take to the streets to sell chickens and earn living expenses.

At that time, people didn't have enough to eat and their height was relatively low, so every time Mu Tiezhu took to the streets, there was always a group of people watching him curiously.

It happened that one day, Mu, surrounded by a group of people, was noticed by the Dongming County Sports Commission passing by in the street. The Sports Commission enthusiastically suggested that he was so tall and suitable for playing basketball, and introduced him to the Shandong Sports Team.

However, when he arrived in Shandong, Mu was sent back without hitting the ball, saying that he had no basketball foundation and his height was not good, so the team needed "fighting power".

This matter was known by the State Sports Commission. They heard that a "giant" rejected by Shandong sports team had no place to live. They thought it was a pity that talents were not trained, so they exchanged 20 basketballs for Mu Tiezhu of the State Sports Commission.

But everyone knows that Mu has never touched a basketball in the Sports Commission. At that time, in the early days of the founding of New China, sports-related facilities were not so perfect, and there was no good system to train Mu Tiezhu, which led him to be assigned to a track and field coach for training.

But as the saying goes: "If you can't make a horse happy, you can get a thousand miles."

Mu Tiezhu's Bole appeared!

After a year's training by the State Sports Commission, Yu Bangji, coach of Hubei Huangshi Amateur Basketball Team, is reorganizing the basketball team. He is worried that there is no center in the basket. Just as Mu was about to be transferred to Huangshi, Hubei Province, he asked the coach if he wanted to give him a chance. The coach saw that this height is completely impeccable and can be cultivated. It is no problem to be the main center of the team.

Yu Bangji thinks Mu Tiezhu is a good prospect. He offered a monthly salary of 15 yuan, including room and board, and gave out two sets of cotton-padded jackets and a shirt every year. He hoped that Mu Tiezhu could stay and train. At that time, it was a very good treatment, and Mu Tiezhu agreed without thinking.

Therefore, Mu joined the Hubei amateur basketball team and started a legendary basketball career.

And coach Yu Bangji's background is not simple. He was a member of the basketball team formed by General Sun Liren before the founding of New China with a solid foundation. So under his command, Mu Tiezhu received a complete training, coupled with his height and natural sports cells, he quickly grew into an excellent center.

In Huangshi amateur sports team, he quickly became the pillar of the team and was besieged on all sides.

Obviously, the difficulty of amateur team is a piece of cake for Mu Tiezhu.

At this time, his performance was just discovered by the "Bayi Basketball Team" being reorganized, and he joined the team under the recommendation of coach Yu Bangji.

The Bayi Basketball Team, to which our army belongs, is a team with abundant talents and has had brilliant achievements in history. CBA won seven championships in the National Games before it was founded in China.

1972, I came to Mu, a team with outstanding achievements, ready to show my talents.

During the period of 1973, the Bayi basketball team was reorganized internally and a new Bayi basketball team was established. Mu Tiezhu played as a basketball player for the first time, which made the coach decide that the team should take him as the main center in the future.

The two National Games from 1975 to 1979 were the highlights of Mu. He led his team to win two championships, making Bayi the first basketball team in China.

The giant really won the reputation of the whole country.

In the same year, China and the United States established diplomatic relations. Under this historical background, the American college basketball team came to China for the first time for an exchange competition. Mu Tiezhu led the team to beat this team, which is known as the "star player" of American universities, twice in a row.

He stood in the penalty area. As soon as his arm was opened, the ball turned and hooked the basket, and the basket scored frequently, which made the American team players completely unable to parry.

Mu's performance has made athletes and fans all over the country and even the world pay attention to the basketball star who rises in Ran Ran, Ran Ran. His light is too dazzling.

Mu led the Bayi basketball team to the international arena. 198 1 defeated the Philippine team that won the championship for many years at that time, and it was the first Asian club champion in the history of China men's basketball team.

With Mu Tiezhu guarding the restricted area, Bayi Basketball Team has become a fearsome team in Asia. They once beat their opponents and beat Japan and South Korea by 30-40 points.

At that time, it can be said that as long as Mu Tiezhu is here, Bayi Team can almost play invincible hands all over the world.

Mu Tiezhu also scored 80 points in a single game against Suzhou.

You know, at that time, no one had the ability to score more than 40 points. He could manage almost all the scores of Bayi Team by himself, which was almost comparable to Chamberlain's scoring record of 100 points in the American professional basketball NBA.

But even with the scenery and glory, Mu still works hard every day and never dares to relax, because he knows that he bears not only the achievements, but also the honor of Bayi team and even the country.

He keeps jogging for several kilometers every day to train himself and keep his best performance on the court.

But throughout the year, Mu Tiezhu's body gradually accumulated large and small injuries.

The fierce running of basketball, coupled with the fierce collision under the basket as a center, caused Mu's physical injury.

Until 1987, 38-year-old "senior" Mu was diagnosed with heart disease, cardiovascular disease and recurrence of various old injuries on lumbar disc herniation after years of hard work. Knowing that this was a warning from his body, he announced his retirement at the Asian Games in the same year and settled down at home to recuperate.

In this way, Mu Tiezhu ended his basketball career perfectly with many honors.

His retirement life is ordinary and satisfying. For him, the most important task in life-basketball has been completed. If he can live a quiet life, he will be satisfied. Even after retirement, there was little news from the media.

Although Mu Tiezhu has always kept a low profile, when he appears, he is always crowded with people. On one occasion, Mu went to Beijing Donglaishun for dinner, which caused a traffic jam from Wangfujing to Donglaishun.

No matter where Mu Tiezhu appears in China, someone will blurt out: "Isn't this Mu Tiezhu!"

During this period, he was invited to make four films, and once performed on the same stage with famous actors such as Song Dandan in "Stupid Manager", which left a deep impression on the audience.

However, in 2008, unfortunate news came that Mu Tiezhu died of a heart attack in the hospital at the age of 59.

Four days later, the state arranged for him to hold a farewell ceremony at Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery. There are many famous historical heroes here, and the martyrs of the Republic of China are also buried here. Mu Tiezhu has won the highest level of courtesy in this country.

At the funeral scene, the scene was sad, and all his former teammates went to visit the grave.

Zheng Ye, a former teammate of Bayi Team and the first female center in China, came to see this comrade-in-arms off for the last trip. When she arrived at the scene, she cried and couldn't accept the fact that Mu Tiezhu had left everyone forever. She once told her friends that since Mu Tiezhu left, she often felt depressed and wondered why such a good person suddenly said no and then disappeared.

At that time, Yao Ming, a basketball superstar, specially canceled all the trips and rushed to Babaoshan.

Yao Ming also met at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, and they had a good chat. Unexpectedly, my predecessor, who looked tough a while ago, has passed away. Yao Ming was dignified and silent in front of LingQian, and he couldn't hold himself for a long time.

Mu Tiezhu's former teammate said of Mu Tiezhu:

The passing of a generation of legends shocked and saddened everyone. On that day, Mu lay peacefully in a coffin surrounded by flowers and slept forever with countless glories.

On that day, many famous athletes put down what they were doing and came to the scene to pay tribute to the former basketball legend.

It has been about 13 years since Mu Tiezhu retired (202 1), so how is his widow now? What are you doing?

At that time, after retiring, Mu Tiezhu almost disappeared from public view, including his wife and children, except for occasional appearances for filming and interviews.

In fact, after he married his wife, Wang Zhuanhong, he had a son and a daughter. The family lived in a bungalow and lived a low-key and simple life.

After Mu retired, the only income of the whole family was the couple's pension, which added up to about 3,000 yuan every month.

For a star athlete, this pension doesn't seem to be in line with his value, but Mu Tiezhu didn't complain. On the contrary, he cherished everything he had.

We can get a glimpse of Mu's family history from the media interviews a long time ago.

He told the media that his eldest daughter is Mu Rong and his youngest son is Mu Tong. Influenced by their father, both children like basketball and NBA.

But Mu Tiezhu never asked his children to "inherit the mantle". On the contrary, he wants their children to develop freely.

Mu Tiezhu thinks that he has no time to spend with his children because he has been working outside for a long time and he owes them something. But in fact, both children admire their father, because they both know that his father is not only making money, but also winning glory for his country.

In addition, after all, Mu Tiezhu is 2.20 meters, and the height of the two children is also the focus of attention.

As the child grows up, the mystery is gradually revealed.

The eldest daughter's height is about 1.7 meters, which is relatively high among girls. The youngest son is 1 m 8, which is the basic height of a basketball player, but he didn't play basketball, but continued to study.

To tell the truth, Mu Tiezhu doesn't want to train his children to be basketball players. He said:

Now, my sister Mu Rong is 4 1 year old and works in a bank. My younger brother Mu Tong was admitted to Beijing Union University and worked in an enterprise after graduation.

All the children lived a quiet and happy life, and his wife, Chen Ye, moved out of a small bungalow and lived in a nice house because of the children's stable financial resources.

Mu Tiezhu has a low profile, and his conscientious professionalism is worth learning. Mu Tiezhu's social influence goes far beyond the scope of basketball, and Mu Tiezhu has also created his own history and anecdotes.

In 1970s and 1980s, due to the special historical background and social development of China at that time, Mu did not become an internationally influential basketball superstar like Yao Ming today, but in people's minds, Mu at that time was equivalent to Yao Ming now.

In the last century, China created many sports myths. The women's volleyball team won five consecutive championships, and table tennis was killed on all sides. Besides Mu, there was also the wonderful performance of the women's basketball team Zheng.

These are all the sweat of athletes. Their efforts and efforts have made China's sports brilliant. I hope today's athletes will continue to bring us more surprises and win glory for our country!
