Thoughts on Education Brought by Artificial Intelligence
? —— Zhejiang University —— One of the learning insights of Rizhao teaching and research personnel's literacy improvement class.

The six-day "Zhejiang University-Rizhao Teaching and Research Staff Professional Quality Improvement Training Course" has ended. I have listened to seven reports, and the experts' strategic reports and wise and sophisticated ideas have left me with deep thoughts. Among them, two experts, Shen and Zhang, mentioned the challenges brought by artificial intelligence to human occupation in their reports. They all quoted the research data of Cambridge University 20 17 on the future "elimination rate" of 365 occupations. Among them, telemarketer, typist, bank clerk and other occupations are listed as the occupations most likely to be replaced by artificial intelligence with the probability of 99.0%, 98.5% and 96.8% respectively, while the probability of teachers being replaced is only 0.4%, and they are listed as the occupations least likely to be replaced. However, the research results have also been widely questioned, so will teachers who have existed for thousands of years in human history be replaced by artificial intelligence?

The reasons why artificial intelligence can't replace teachers are summarized as follows: education is not a cold product, education has a temperature, students' spiritual development needs teachers' emotional input and ideological guidance, and students' spiritual growth needs teachers to enter students' hearts in time for emotional exchange and humanistic care. Artificial intelligence has no human emotion, so it is difficult to achieve this educational goal. Therefore, no matter how technology develops, the teacher's words and deeds, face-to-face communication and communication are all necessary contents of educating people. In addition, education is a creative work, and both teaching methods and educational methods need to be constantly innovated according to the development of the times. However, artificial intelligence lacks human initiative and creativity. It can work according to the procedures prescribed by human beings, but it will not work actively, let alone creatively.

The profession of teachers will not be replaced by artificial intelligence, which does not mean that all teachers will not be eliminated. Under the background that exam-oriented education is still popular, some experienced teachers may be optimistic that exams are the shortcomings of artificial intelligence and beyond the reach of real people. The following two pieces of news may give them a blow.

In 20 17, the education industry conducted an experiment to recruit two groups of students. One group of students is taught by three senior teachers with an average teaching experience of 17, and the other group of students is taught by intelligent adaptive teaching robots developed by enterprises. In four days, through targeted and concentrated junior high school mathematics teaching guidance, the learning effects of the two groups of students were objectively compared. The results show that the intelligent adaptive teaching robot completely crushes real-life teaching, and the average core is divided into 36. 13 (machine teaching) and 26. 18 (real-life teaching). According to the composition proposition of Beijing college entrance examination in 20 18, the writer Zhang's article "New Age and New Youth" got only 85 points, while the robot's composition "Green Water and Green Mountains" got the evaluation expert who had participated in the marking of the college entrance examination 100 points.

In terms of exams, it is expected that AI robots will completely defeat human teachers, because the powerful memory function and analytical ability of artificial intelligence are beyond human reach. Another representative case can prove the reputation of IBM's Watson system in the field of artificial intelligence. After the general doctor inputs all the information of patients in this system, it only takes a few seconds to generate a treatment report of 70 pages to 100 pages. The report includes the recommended treatment plan, the guidelines and treatment ideas followed by the treatment plan, clinical medical evidence that helps to find patients, medication suggestions and reminders of drug side effects. After years of technical iteration and big data "feeding", Watson system can read 3496 medical monographs, 248,000 papers, 69 treatment plans, 6 1540 experimental data and 654,380+006,000 clinical reports in 17 seconds, and finally propose three optimal treatment plans.

By analogy, educational robots can determine students' intellectual advantages, learning types and promotion schemes according to the analysis of students' examination data, and at the same time equip students with the best learning materials in their own resource database. These tasks in the cognitive field, which are closely related to exam-taking, can be completely handed over to machines, so that teachers can be liberated and have more time to teach in the field of values or emotions. To sum up, I'm afraid the teachers who can only teach but not educate people will be eliminated first.

Professor Zhang introduced some educational technologies in Iflytek, such as vocabulary, impression notes, graphite documents, easy posters, mind maps, etc., in the report "Integrated Development of Information Technology and Education and Teaching under the Background of" internet plus ",which brought us a lot of inspiration. With the rapid development of educational technology today, rejecting new technologies is tantamount to holding cold weapons against modern weapons, and the outcome is clear at a glance. Therefore, it is inevitable that teachers who do not know technology will be replaced by teachers who know technology. The whole history of human civilization is a history of the development of human technology. The improvement of the development level of human life is inseparable from the continuous development of technology, and education itself is a part of life. Then, in the era of artificial intelligence, what should teachers do to better cope with the new situation, new challenges and new requirements of the development of the times?

As far as learning resources are concerned, teachers should encourage students to expand the sources and ways of acquiring knowledge and methods. Students' learning is no longer confined to the classroom. Portable devices such as smart phones, tablets and PDAs enable students to study anytime, anywhere. In order to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic, all localities postponed the start of school in autumn this year, which provided opportunities for various online education platforms to shine, and educators actually felt the convenience of online education. The future education is bound to be a new pattern in which online learning and offline learning coexist, and mobile learning and fixed learning go hand in hand. The role of teachers must also change from the leader of education to the server of education.

As far as educational methods are concerned, teachers should make full use of big data analysis to realize personalized education. Under the current traditional class teaching mode, the concept of teaching students in accordance with their aptitude can only be a castle in the air, out of reach. With the application of analytical technology, virtual reality and artificial intelligence, this concept will become a reality. Teachers can judge students' potential and quality, track students' learning process, find out the difficulties and key points in students' learning, and tailor personalized courses, learning progress and learning content for students, thus implementing personalized education.

As far as work innovation is concerned, teachers should not only cooperate with machines, but also make full use of the irreplaceable advantages of "people" by machines, constantly improve their own abilities and innovate their work in order to cultivate all-round development people. The ultimate goal of education is to pay attention to students' soul and happiness, and lay the foundation for students' happiness and growth all their lives. Teachers' concern for students' hearts, spirits and happiness is irreplaceable by machines. Therefore, teachers should strive to improve their communication skills, creativity and aesthetic ability, compassion and sincere help and care for others, interact with students on an equal footing, implement more people-oriented teaching, and make students more creative.

According to the research report of Cambridge University, if a person's work meets the following characteristics, then he is likely to be replaced by robots: 1. Skills that can be mastered through training without talent; 2. Many repetitive jobs, you don't need to go to work every day, but you are familiar with them; 3. The working space is narrow, sitting in the grid, I don't know what is happening in the world.

These three items sound familiar, but they are actually the working conditions of many teachers at present. The future has arrived. It is an inevitable choice for every educator to stand at the crossroads of technology iteration, actively embrace technology and make use of it. The technical side will not be eliminated, otherwise, when the times abandon you, you will not say goodbye.
