Cough:

Cough is a cough with sound and no phlegm. Cough, phlegm is silent for cough. In daily life, it is generally difficult to distinguish different sounds, so it is called cough. Cough is a common respiratory disease. Try to distinguish the symptoms of cough and then prescribe the right medicine.

Classification of cough:

From the perspective of western medicine, cough can be mainly divided into three categories: acute cough, subacute chronic cough and chronic cough.

Acute cough: cough within 3 weeks is the most common symptom in respiratory clinic. Etiology includes virus, mycoplasma or bacteria, including acute bronchitis, pneumonia and respiratory infection.

Treatment: dextromethorphan hydrobromide syrup combined with cefixime capsules.

Subacute cough: A cough that lasts for more than 3 weeks or less than 8 weeks is called subacute cough.

Treatment: Compound licorice tablets or ammonium chloride tablets combined with Keteling capsules and azithromycin capsules.

Chronic cough: it lasts for more than 8 weeks and lasts for a long time. The causes of chronic cough are complicated, including cough variant asthma. It is considered as allergic bronchitis and upper respiratory cough syndrome.

Treatment: Compound ephedrine tablets are combined with Long Dan Zhichuan tablets and roxithromycin capsules.

From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, there are the following common types.

1 Symptoms of wind-cold cough:

Severe cough, asthma, sore throat, thin expectoration and white color are often accompanied by nasal congestion, runny nose, headache, limb pain, nausea, fever, no sweat, thin and white tongue coating, etc.

Two symptoms of wind-heat cough:

Frequent cough, shortness of breath or hoarse cough, dry throat, sore throat, unpleasant expectoration, thick or yellow sputum, sweating when coughing, often accompanied by runny nose, thirst, headache, bad wind, body heat and other symptoms.

Cough due to phlegm-dampness

Cough recurs, with heavy and turbid cough sound, excessive phlegm, thick or sticky phlegm, white or light gray. Cough up a lot of phlegm every morning or after meals.

Such as eating sweet and greasy food, chest tightness, nausea, eating less, general fatigue, stool sugar and other symptoms.

The treatment plan should be: Hong Ju Granule combined with Li Qiang loquat dew and roxithromycin dispersible tablets.

Baby allergic cough

Allergic cough can occur in children of any age, with recurrent or persistent cough for more than one month. The onset is not limited to winter and spring, but mostly occurs at night and the next morning. Most children's coughs are irritating coughs with phlegm.

Allergic cough in children is a common disease. Many children have chronic or recurrent cough, also known as cough variant asthma. However, many parents have been treating cough for a long time, and they have not used antibiotics and cough medicine according to the dosage, and their condition has never improved. At this time, parents should think that the child may be allergic cough.

Treatment should choose: Shuchuanling granules combined with ketotifen and azithromycin granules.

How to choose antitussive and expectorant drugs

Children are generally not suitable for using central antitussive drugs. Such as codeine, kebiqing and other drugs. Infants and young children have immature respiratory system, poor cough reflex, narrow tracheal cavity, rich blood vessels, poor ciliary movement and difficulty in expectoration.

If the child is given a strong cough medicine as soon as he coughs, the cough will stop temporarily. However, sputum can not be discharged smoothly, and it will accumulate in organs and bronchi, affecting respiratory function.

Children's cough is suitable for expectorant cough medicine. The effect of syrup is greater than that of tablets, because syrup can be attached to the pharyngeal mucosa in time and can weaken the stimulation to the mucosa. This can achieve the effect of relieving cough. In addition, don't drink water immediately when taking syrup, for example, a mouthful of syrup and a mouthful of water will dilute the medicinal properties. Do not take it with water.

According to TCM theory, cough can be divided into hot cough, cold cough, cold cough and internal injury cough. If Chinese medicine is used to relieve cough, it can be divided into cold, hot, warm and cool because of its different properties, so it is necessary to prescribe the right medicine.
