How to introduce what is mindfulness to a person who has never studied it at all?
This chapter starts with emotion, deeply analyzes the reaction mode of emotion-action mode, and then leads to another opposite reaction mode-existence mode, namely mindfulness.

In the morning, my friends and I not only deeply shared this passage, but also read the power of mindfulness and mindfulness awareness in detail:

I remember two years ago, when I was teaching mindfulness, in the course, Teacher Joe Kabajin thought:

This kind of concentration makes us more conscious, clearer and more receptive to the present reality.

It makes us soberly realize that our lives are just unfolding in one moment after another.

"Positive"-correct mentality: kindness and curiosity;

"Mindfulness"-consciously aware of the present, that is, the trinity of body, mind and environment.

This book explains it like this:

What should I pay attention to? Pay attention to everything in the world, especially the content of life that we often take for granted or ignore.

Mindfulness means paying attention to the state of things at any time and place, paying attention to the state of things themselves, rather than the state we hope it should be. It is the opposite of contemplative thinking and the opposite of the persistent and repeated causes of depression. ?

First, mindfulness is intentional. When we cultivate our mindfulness, we will find more realistic environment and possible choices, so that we can act more soberly.

Second, mindfulness is empirical and directly points to the current practical experience.

Third, mindfulness is not evaluative. It allows us to see the real state of things at present, and allows them to keep it that way. Through the cultivation of mindfulness, we may be able to recognize the complex relationship among external events, emotional feelings, thoughts and behaviors, and understand how one factor induces another, thus igniting the whole chain of depression.

Emotion itself has evolutionary significance, and every emotion has a reason to exist. P2 1 in the book mentions that "emotion is a vital messenger".

And many times, our emotions are short-lived. Even if there are some persistent emotional reactions sometimes, after a period of time, we will heal ourselves and return to normal.

Then why does depression last forever?

The book suggests that our reactions to emotions will make them last. Here's another example of Carol:

When we solve a real problem, the original problem-solving model is effective, but when we face our negative thoughts and emotions, it is often counterproductive to deny, fight or even destroy because of disgust.

When we were in childhood or adolescence, we suffered some negative experiences, which were accompanied by depression and caused us to think a lot about negative self-worth. When we are adults, these past memories, emotions and thoughts are often activated by some troubles and sorrows in front of us, thus falling into them.

When we fall into it, on the one hand, it will make our mood more depressed. On the other hand, we will follow the previous problem-solving model and reflect on what went wrong and how to solve it. This will make it easier to fall into self-doubt.

Each of us has the ability to think and analyze, which is very helpful to lead us to solve many external practical problems. When we find a problem, we think and analyze it, and then take action until we finally solve the target problem.

For example, I want to finish reading this book, which is the goal. I will think about how to read this book, such as how much to read today and how much to read tomorrow, until I finish reading this book gradually. In the process, I will constantly check my reading progress. This is how it works.

But we can't deal with emotional problems like this. When we feel unhappy, you set an emotional goal for yourself: I should feel happy, and then think about why I am like this, what's wrong with me, and focus on yourself and fall into "excessive self-meditation" (excessive rumination) because you believe that this can help you overcome troubles and depression, but on the contrary, this excessive meditation will not solve the problem, but become a part of the problem itself.

Of course, it is not that the mode of existence is better than the mode of action, and both are important, but they are different modes. In dealing with different objects, this book says that the existential model is the antidote to the problems created by the action model.

In other words, what's the difference between being and acting?

P34 in the book gives a six-point overview. In the morning, we also read it carefully and shared it:

These characteristics of the way of existence coincide with our mindfulness.

Raise our awareness.

We have a natural intuition about things and emotions, not only through our minds, but also through our hearts and senses. We can also be aware of our own thinking; Thinking is not entirely the content of consciousness.

Existentialism can give us a brand-new way to live and understand emotions, pressures, thoughts and physical states. By developing an understanding of the existing model, we can:
