What documents do I need to sail before I can take up my post?
Sailing requires a ship's driver's license to work, and the documents required for sailing are as follows:

1. identification: seaman's card, issued by the maritime bureau; Passports for going abroad on private business shall be issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

2. Competency certificates, similar to professional qualification certificates: certificates of captain, ship pilot, ship engineer, ship sailor, ship mechanic, GMDSS general operator, GMDSS limited operator, etc.

3. Professional training certificates: basic safety and social responsibility training certificate, lifeboat and rescue boat training certificate, skilled first aid training certificate, skilled boat and raft training certificate, advanced fire fighting training certificate, advanced medical training certificate, radar simulator training certificate, radar standard drawing and ARPA training certificate, ship security officer training certificate, etc.

4. Special training certificates: large-scale ship operation certificate, tanker safety knowledge training certificate, tanker safety operation certificate, passenger ro-ro ship training certificate, etc.

5. Health certificate and immunization certificate (commonly known as yellow book)

6. Service qualification certificate: seaman's service book.

The requirements for becoming a sailor are:

1, age: 18 years old and under 45 years old;

2. Education: Junior high school or above;

3. Height: the height is above 165cm;

4. Major: having corresponding scientific and cultural knowledge and professional knowledge;

5. Physical condition: good health, no disability, no color blindness, colorless weakness, no infectious diseases, no history of mental illness, and meeting the physical examination standards for seafarers;

6. English requirements: have a certain English foundation;

7, moral quality: no record of bad behavior, love the cause of navigation;

8. Vision requirements: no color blindness, colorless weakness, no less than 1.0 for ship driving major (third mate, sailor) and no less than 0.5 for ship engine major (third engineer, mechanic).

Seafarer registration procedures:

1. registered in China maritime integrated service platform.

2. Fill in the materials: including my name, age, household registration, ID number, education, etc.

3. Payment: Registration is successful after payment is completed;

4. Training: The training will be conducted by a training institution recognized by the state, and the training will be qualified.

This law is based on the Rules for Competency Examination and Certification of China People and Domestic Inland River Crew.

Article 6 The crew members of inland river vessels shall obtain certificates of competency corresponding to the job requirements, tonnage of the vessel, main engine power and navigation area (line). The appointment of a witness shall not be higher than the category and job qualification recorded in the certificate of competency, nor shall it exceed the navigation area (line) recorded in the certificate of competency.

Article 11 To obtain a certificate of competency, the following conditions shall be met:

(a) At least 18 years old (at least 16 years old for interns and trainees on board), and at least 60 years old when applying for the first time;

(2) meeting the health requirements of the crew position;

(3) Having received basic safety training for seafarers;

(4) Having passed the competency examination for the crew of inland river vessels in the subjects specified by the Maritime Safety Administration of the Ministry of Transport.

The crew members who participate in navigation and engine duty shall also undergo corresponding competency training and special training for crew members, have corresponding crew qualifications (see Annex "Requirements for Water Service Qualification of Inland River Ship Crews"), and have good performance and safety records.
