1928 when he was a professor and head of horticulture department at CUHK agricultural college, he initiated the establishment of China Horticultural Society with Professor Guo Xujing and others, and served as the chairman.
After 1932, Li Ju was successively employed as a senior gardener by the Agricultural Improvement General Office of the Construction Department of Zhejiang Province, and served as a professor and head of the Department of Horticulture in Chongqing University, Sichuan University and other universities. During this period, he mainly taught landscape architecture, nursery science, floral science, ornamental trees, Latin names of plants and teaching practice. In addition to compiling teaching handouts and reference materials, he also investigated fruit trees in Zhejiang, and compiled the Investigation Report on Yangmei and Loquat in Zhejiang, which was published in the special issue of 1933 Zhejiang Agricultural Improvement General Farm. Nursery Science was compiled and published in 1935, which played an important guiding role in the establishment of nurseries and the propagation, cultivation and management of seedlings. Besides teaching, he is also engaged in landscape design and renovation design of cultural relics and historic sites. Especially during the period from 1938 to 1948 as a member of Chengdu Park Design Committee, he successively designed parks, private gardens, cemeteries and campuses such as Chengdu Shaocheng Park, Nanjiao Park, Xindu Guihu Park and Ji Bo Hospital, and combined with the park design practice, explored the subject content needed to train landscape professionals.
After the founding of New China, Li Ju was still a professor at the Agricultural College of Sichuan University. 195 1, also a member of Chengdu Construction Planning Committee and Chengdu Cultural Relics Restoration Committee. After teaching, he presided over the design and renovation of Chengdu People's Park, Working People's Cultural Palace, Du Fu Caotang and Zhaojue Temple.
After returning to China, Li Ju engaged in teaching, but also undertook heavy landscape design for a long time. In Nanjing, he participated in the design of Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, adopted the western regular layout technique, and adopted the tall evergreen conifer cedar as the keynote tree species, which set off the grand, solemn and solemn atmosphere of the Mausoleum. When he was the director of Nanjing Park Administration, he put forward the concept of tree-lined street, and realized this idea in the implementation of road greening in Nanjing, becoming one of the advocates of urban road greening in modern China.
Li Ju designed Kaifeng Long Ting Park and Fangtasi Park from 1927 by applying foreign theories and combining domestic reality. Xuanwu Lake Park, Qinhuai River Park and Central University Campus in Nanjing; Chongqing University Campus, Chongqing Education College Campus; Lakeside park in Hangzhou; Chengdu Shaocheng Park, Xindu Guihu Park, etc. In design, he absorbed the techniques of western national parks and the mode of public recreation and rest, and established the open lakeside park in Hangzhou and Xuanwu Lake Park in Nanjing. These parks still maintain the prototype of the original design. The design of Kaifeng Long Ting Park was praised by General Feng Yuxiang. Later, he was recommended to design Miaogaotai Garden in Xikou, Zhejiang, Five Blessingg Garden in He Xiangning and gardens and cemeteries of other famous people for Chiang Kai-shek.
After liberation, landscape architecture has been valued and developed. In the construction of modern parks and green spaces, he combined the design of our country and used the layout techniques of western gardens earlier and more. He is one of the pioneers in the construction of modern parks in China.
