Since 1998, due to the change of work, Shi Gang is no longer engaged in the ideological education of students, but is responsible for the management of student dormitories. Two years' silence did not douse Shi Gang's enthusiasm for psychology. After work, he took the time to participate in various psychological trainings to improve his psychological knowledge and quality.
In 2002, the government and all walks of life paid more and more attention to the mental health of college students, that is, in this year, the Ministry of Education also issued a document stipulating that every university should set up a psychological counseling center. In June, the psychological quality education center of China Agricultural University was formally established under the impetus of the general environment, which comprehensively improved the psychological health level of our students. Although at the beginning of its establishment, Shi Gang established the working purpose of the psychological quality education center: always stick to being close to reality, students and needs, take "popularizing the basic knowledge of mental health and strengthening the self-awareness education of maintaining physical and mental health" as the core of all work, as the starting point, foothold and focus of mental health education, and truly give full play to the four functions of mental health education in colleges and universities: awareness education, disease prevention, crisis intervention and psychological assistance. But for a long time, due to students' subjective understanding, the work has not been smooth. At this time, it happened to be teacher Fan Fumin's group consultation class in May, which pointed out the direction for Shi Gang who was exploring.
