Some students scored more than 120 or even more than 130, while others scored only about 20-30. It's really incredible that the gap is so big. After years of research, Miao's father found that the gap between them is not only reflected in vocabulary, but also in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Generally speaking, it is the gap in basic skills.
Of course, it is too late to realize this until the third year of high school. After all, the improvement of English level is not a one-off event, and it takes as long as 10 years to accumulate over time, from unfamiliarity to mastery to perfection.
Fortunately, the number of parents who attach importance to family English enlightenment is on the rise, and Niu Wa, a solid English boy, is also emerging one after another. This was originally a fortunate thing, but everything has advantages and disadvantages.
No, my parents consulted a few days ago. How do children continue to maintain their English advantage after primary school? If children's English level is much higher than that of their classmates, is it a good thing or a bad thing? On these two issues, Bian Xiao will talk about my own views.

What if the school content is too simple?
Usually, children who have had English enlightenment in kindergarten or earlier will feel more relaxed and simple in English class after entering primary school.
Some children will have this situation, because they can understand and think that listening is the same as not listening, so they will not concentrate on listening, or look around, or play by themselves in class. In the long run, this problem will "spread" to other disciplines, and the consequences can be imagined, and natural achievements will go from bad to worse.
In fact, this has a lot to do with the "habit formation" of children when they were young. If children are very young, they will pay more attention to habit formation and listen carefully in class, which is better than studying for three hours after class.
Of course, if children's English level is indeed much higher than their peers, they can apply to the teacher to read English novels and other books in English class. My family's practice is to encourage children to answer questions actively in English class, improve their self-confidence, and transfer this self-confidence in learning English to other subjects.
At the same time, children are advised to help other students with learning difficulties as much as possible. While being helpful, I also consolidated my basic knowledge of English and improved my expressive ability.

Family Enlightenment and Division of Work in School Teaching
Generally speaking, in the face of the contradiction between family English enlightenment and school English teaching, the ideal way to deal with it is complementarity. That is, through family English enlightenment, lay the foundation for school English learning. However, school English learning is more systematic and the basic skills are more solid, which is also a good supplement to the sustainable development of family English enlightenment.
The biggest feature of family English enlightenment is that the time span is relatively long, and children have enough time to lay the foundation, especially listening, speaking and reading. It is difficult to learn anything without long-term persistent training.
Take listening training as an example, starting with 1000 listening vocabulary in the enlightenment period. If you are a child, you need at least one year of deliberate training. Every link, from English nursery rhymes to TPR parent-child interaction to English cartoons, takes about half a year to accumulate.
First of all, if you want to understand about 40 rhythmic children's songs, such as super simple songs, you need parents and children to interact together, sing and dance together, and persist every day, so that you can truly witness the progress of your children.
Secondly, nearly 200 "TPR Flash Cards for Miao Dad's English Enlightenment" is a systematic project. According to Ebbinghaus's forgetting curve, play games with children step by step to apply what they have learned. Without strong perseverance, it is easy to give up halfway.
The biggest problem facing English teaching in schools is precisely the lack of time, so we can only engage in short, flat and quick exam-oriented education. Now, my response is this: grammar and brush questions are handed over to the school, and family enlightenment specializes in listening and reading. After this division of labor, the training mode becomes relatively simple.

How to keep the advantage of English?
Children's English advantages are mainly reflected in four aspects: "listening, speaking, reading and writing". After children reach the senior grade of primary school or junior high school, their extracurricular time is basically occupied by school homework. How to maintain the advantages of "listening, speaking, reading and writing"? This has become a reality that everyone has to face.
Faced with this problem, Miao Dad has two suggestions:
First, time planning.
Time is equal for everyone, but everyone's efficiency in using time is quite different. Helping children manage themselves from an early age and carefully planning their daily time are of great significance to their future growth.
After comparison and practice, Miao's father thinks that "daily task list" plays a very important role in cultivating children's self-management ability. 3-5 learning tasks a day, preferably visual, that is, printed and posted on the child's desk.
At the beginning, in order to cultivate habits, parents must urge their children every day, draw a tick every time they complete a list task, and go to bed every day after completing all tasks. When you are young, you can use the form of small red flowers to improve the enthusiasm of children to participate.
Second, insist on training.
Learning English is most afraid of "fishing for three days and drying the net for two days", because in China, children have limited opportunities to use English. If you don't insist on training, children will soon be unfamiliar with English, especially oral English.
As the saying goes: never leave your hand, never leave your mouth. Even a master of spoken English will become more and more stiff if he doesn't use it often.
The method often recommended by Bian Xiao and used by my family is "one-minute English speech". It is a good way to consolidate and improve oral English to spend three to five minutes every night after dinner or before going to bed, so that children can retell picture book stories or introduce interesting things that happened that day in English.
