Wanping is adjacent to East Taihu Lake, with abundant rainfall, and the soil is mainly small silt, with a perennial accumulated temperature of about 4,800 degrees Celsius, while the area suitable for growing citrus should reach a perennial accumulated temperature of about 5,000 degrees Celsius. Therefore, Wanping is located in the marginal zone south of the Yangtze River, which is a sub-experimental area. Although Wanping began to plant citrus as early as 30 years ago, due to too much nitrogen fertilizer and lack of scientific management, the citrus produced has such a saying: "A catty of oranges is half a catty, and there is a mouthful of fresh water."
In view of the unfavorable conditions of citrus planting in Wanping, the majority of technicians and citrus farmers have taken effective measures and scientific planting management through visiting and training.
