The school is located in Shekou Economic Development Zone, huangpi district, Wuhan, covering an area of 150 mu. Now, a comprehensive teaching building, a crew examination building, a student apartment building, a training center and a sports venue have been built. The overall construction area is 22,000 square meters, and the teaching and training facilities are complete. According to the market demand, the school has set up inland river ship driving/engine management, navigation technology/engine management, hull construction and repair, ship machinery and equipment, ship electrical and other majors for national enrollment. By signing contracts with relevant shipping companies all over the country to recruit students, the school will train the students transported by the company into high-quality crew members. After students hold certificates, the employment problem is directly solved by their shipping company. After graduation, students have obtained certificates of competency for three pairs/three tubes and seafarers/mechanics on duty. They work as ship drivers and marine engineers in shipping companies, offshore operations and offshore engineering companies, and also engage in international shipping management, freight forwarding, engineering equipment management, power equipment management and other related occupations.

With the approval of Hubei Provincial Department of Education, Dalian Maritime University set up Wuhan Correspondence Station in the center to improve the seamen's educational level.
