Pottery has a history of about eight or nine thousand years, but its origin is earlier. Primitive humans have been studying the invention of containers since they invented making fires and baking food. Initially, it was estimated that the container was made of branches, and then clay was coated on it and fired to form a watertight container. Began to explore the original pottery pots, that is, primitive pottery.
It is not clear what the earliest pottery in China looked like. However, according to the excavation of the old kiln site discovered in recent years, some experts divide it into Peiligang culture and magnetic mountain culture (some experts think it belongs to two types of the same culture).
These cultures are a case of pottery making in China in the new era, which is earlier than Yangshao culture. The pottery in this period is mainly red pottery, which is muddy and mixed with sand.
The firing temperature of casserole is always 900-960°c, and it is generally made into different types by elutriation. The workmanship is exquisite, and some production methods do not need to be washed.
It is speculated that the appearance of sand-mixed pottery appeared during the use of argillaceous pottery by ancestors. Muddy pottery has fine texture, small pores and higher density than sand pottery. Some factors of argillaceous pottery determine that it can't stand fire. At this time, the ancestors added some sand or other materials to the muddy pottery.
The sand here is different from the sand we talked about, because I am engaged in sand and ceramics and have a clear understanding of some raw materials. The aforementioned grains of sand have been used. We call it sand gangue, which mainly contains iron, silicon and aluminum. Not wear-resistant or burn-resistant. Sand pottery is mainly used as a cooker, and it is still in use today, such as casserole.
Later, after the appearance of bronze, the pot made of bronze was called "Ding", and now some people call the casserole "Ding Guo". Ding is only a musical instrument used by the upper class, and people still use casserole.
After the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, iron gradually became the main material for making pots, which has continued until now.
