Since its establishment, the college has experienced three stages of development. 1978 to 1995, which is the stage of prosperity and development in the planned economy period; 1996 to 200 1 is the trough stage; From 2002 to now, it is a stage to get out of the trough and realize leap-forward development. The total assets of the college increased from 3.8 million in 1996 to 50 million now, the number of students in the college increased from 6 in 2006 to 1600 now, the area of the college increased from 1996 to180,000 square meters now, and the building area increased from/kloc-0 now.

There are seven teaching institutions in the college: Basic Department, Automobile Engineering Department, Mechanical Department, Welding Clamp Department, Power Engineering Department, Information Engineering Department, Forest Management Engineering Department and Tourism Service and Management Department. There are 14 majors in automobile operation and repair (provincial famous brand specialty), machining and numerical control technology, fitter and welding technology, electrical automation technology, mechatronics, chemistry and pharmaceutical technology, computer application, forest management and protection, northern medicine cultivation, tourism service and management, thermal power plant, edible mushroom cultivation technology and service outsourcing. There are 25 experimental training rooms, practice factories 1 each, driving schools 1 each, and practice bases 10. After 30 years of exploration and practice, the college has summed up a set of unique teaching methods, two "integrations" (integration of theory and experiment, integration of practice and production) teaching. Student management adopts a closed semi-military management mode.

The college has also established vocational skill appraisal stations for special jobs and national vocational skill appraisal institutes for general jobs, re-employment training bases in Yichun, entrepreneurship training bases for migrant workers and export training bases to undertake various short-term vocational training tasks in Yichun, with an annual training capacity of 3,000 people.
