The origin of Chongqing's name
The name of Chongqing originated in the Song Dynasty.

In the Song Dynasty, Chongqing was subordinate to Xichuan Road and Xiaxi Road (also known as Xialu, governing Fengjie) for a short time, and Kuizhou Road (one of the four roads in Xia Chuan, governing Fengjie) for most of the time. In the first year of Chongning in the Northern Song Dynasty (1 102), due to Zhao Chen's rebellion, Song Huizong changed the meaning of "Chongqing" to "Duke of Zhou".
