Established in 2002, the Ocean Engineering Test Center has successfully passed the project acceptance by the national maritime authorities and the quality management system audit by the expert group of the national maritime department. The experimental center has 18 specialized laboratories with a total use area of 35 14m2 and 6 15 sets of equipment, with a total equipment price of10.53 million yuan. On July 27, 2007, the Maritime Safety Administration of the Ministry of Communications approved its qualification for training seafarers. The first crew training course was held in the 2008 academic year. It has become the only institution in Shandong to carry out maritime undergraduate education.
