Introduction to Wuhan Vocational College of Foreign Languages and Foreign Affairs Wuhan Vocational College of Foreign Languages and Foreign Affairs was established in 2002 with the approval of Hubei Provincial People's Government and filed by the Ministry of Education. It is the only higher vocational college in Central South China that specializes in training foreign language and foreign affairs talents, and it is a full-time college at the specialist level.
College is located in the beautiful East Lake, at the foot of Moshan Mountain, in the middle of Luo Yan Island Scenic Area. It is adjacent to Wuhan Railway Station under construction in the east, foggy East Lake in the west, graceful Moshan Mountain in the south and Friendship Avenue in the north. With elegant environment and beautiful scenery, it is an ideal place for students to further their studies.
The college covers an area of about 480 mu with a building area of more than 300,000 square meters. It invested more than 300 million yuan to build a complete teaching and living facility including teaching building, sports ground, library, various laboratories, standard student apartments, student canteens, standard track and field venues, staff dormitories, canteens and supermarkets. Among them, the total value of teaching instruments and equipment is nearly180,000 yuan, and the library has 364,000 books (including electronic books150,000 books).
The college has eight departments and 23 majors, among which "Tourism English" is the key major in Wuhan. It enrolls students from 28 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions nationwide, with 5 1 15 students.
The college has 4/kloc-0 experimental training rooms, 29 off-campus training bases and 9 employment training bases, among which the multilingual foreign language autonomous learning center on campus has comprehensive functions (including more than 400 open foreign language autonomous learning rooms, simultaneous interpretation training rooms, teaching recording and broadcasting halls, teaching film and television viewing halls, overseas radio and television satellite receiving stations, etc.), and has first-class equipment, which better meets the teaching and training needs of students.
There are nearly 300 teachers in the college, accounting for 35% of the total number of teachers, including some skilled craftsmen and senior technicians from enterprises and institutions. In order to strengthen foreign language teaching and reflect the characteristics of the college, the college hired 14 full-time foreign teachers from the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, France and other countries to teach foreign languages. The passing rate of students' English proficiency test ranks in the forefront of similar colleges in Hubei Province, and the employment rate of graduates exceeds 90%.
The college has carried out international cooperation with universities in Britain, Australia, Japan and the United States. After studying in the college for three years, eligible students can apply to partner universities in these countries to continue their undergraduate and master's degrees.
The college will continue to increase investment, improve school conditions, optimize the discipline structure, adjust the professional layout, and gradually form a school-running system with distinctive foreign language and foreign affairs characteristics. At the same time, we introduce international school-running mechanism and concept, adopt humanized management mode and use modern teaching methods to cultivate foreign language and foreign affairs professionals who meet the needs of domestic and foreign markets.
