Characteristics of Ethernet switch
The functions of Ethernet switches are as follows:

1, Ethernet switch is essentially a multi-interface bridge, usually with a dozen or more interfaces.

2. Each interface is directly connected to the host or another Ethernet switch and usually works in full duplex mode.

3. Ethernet switches are parallel.

4. Multiple pairs of interfaces can be connected at the same time and multiple pairs of hosts can communicate at the same time. Hosts communicating with each other are exclusive transmission media, and there is no conflict in transmitting data.

5. The interface of Ethernet switch has a memory, which can buffer incoming frames when the output port is busy.

6. Ethernet switch is a plug-and-play device, and its internal frame exchange table (also called address table) is automatically established step by step through self-learning algorithm.

7. Ethernet switch adopts special switch structure chip, hardware forwarding, and the speed is much faster than that of software forwarding bridge.
