Art Journey-My Days in the Academy of Fine Arts
Friends who often read my articles know that I am one of the first batch of post-80s students. At that time, colleges and universities had not expanded their enrollment. Going to college for rural children is equivalent to squeezing a wooden bridge. Few students pass, most of them will fall behind, and I am one of them.

Just because I didn't go to college doesn't mean I didn't go to college. Fortunately, I have experienced three months of college life, which is a "college dream". As the saying goes, a person's temperament hides the books he has read, the roads he has traveled and the people he has met. The experience of those years is the background of my life.

I went to an ordinary high school and chose liberal arts. In the second half of senior two, in order to cultivate artistic talents, the school specially set aside a classroom as a studio and set up an art hobby class. But there is no professional teacher, only a chemistry teacher who knows a little about painting can teach you some basic knowledge. There are always more than a dozen people in the interest class, and I also participated.

There is a brother named Brian Sun in the class. In the summer vacation of senior one, he went to an art training class outside the school for a period of time. The teacher who taught him is Li Yunfeng, who graduated from Hubei Academy of Fine Arts. Needless to say, his professionalism. After studying hard and practicing hard, Brother Xiaobo is a beginner, and his painting skills are unique on campus, which has dealt a blow to our dimensionality reduction. Influenced by Brother Xiaobo, after a period of study, my painting skills advanced by leaps and bounds, and I became famous in the joint exhibition held by interest classes, which was widely praised by teachers and students. From then on, I became the second brother in the studio after Brother Xiaobo.

That year was 1998, and I happened to be eighteen. At the turn of spring and summer, the American blockbuster Titanic is being shown in the video hall of the cultural station near the school. Others covet Ruth's plump figure, while I covet Jack's painting skills.

After entering senior three in the second half of the year, the school learned that Hubei Academy of Fine Arts had set up an art college entrance examination training class. In order to let us learn more professional knowledge, it sponsored part of my tuition and sent us to the Academy of Fine Arts for several months.

Hubei Academy of Fine Arts is the only specialized college in Central China and one of the nine national fine arts colleges, located near Xiaodongmen, Wuchang District, Wuhan. At that time, the dean was a famous art educator, Mr. Tang Xiaohe. I met him once at the college Christmas party and listened to his speech. Later, I learned from some art materials that the dean's father was the founder of the Academy of Fine Arts.

As the saying goes, fish has a fish path and shrimp has a shrimp path. Because there are many art candidates every year and there is demand in the market, the teachers of the Academy of Fine Arts have developed a model of increasing the income of creative production. At that time, several major painting departments rented buildings near the college to run training classes or studios. I entered the college entrance examination art training class of oil painting department, also known as "Apple Studio". The monthly tuition fee is 500 yuan, and you can take care of yourself. You can stay in the hostel arranged by the teacher or rent your own house. Then go to the college logistics office to recharge the meal card, swipe the card in the college cafeteria for three meals a day, and sit with the person you like. By the way, a girl named Hu Yanglin from the Academy of Fine Arts was also eating in this restaurant. I should have met her in theory, but I just don't know her. A few years later, she sang a song that was popular all over the country. This song is called "Poisonous Perfume".

Our head teacher's name is Dan Wen. At that time, he was the head of the oil painting department of the college. His appearance is very similar to Dashan, a foreign disciple of crosstalk master Jiang Kun. He also wears a pair of gold-rimmed glasses and is gentle. Teacher Wen is only responsible for management, not teaching. There are countless other teachers who teach us to draw, and they take turns to go into battle like a lantern. Whoever is free should be arranged to come. Impressed teachers include associate professor Yang Dan and assistant professor Fu Hong. The closer the art college entrance examination is, the more students attend the training class, and the teachers are overwhelmed, so they call several junior high school students in the oil painting department to help, which is regarded as work-study program. I still remember their names. One is Jing Wong in Zhijiang, and the other is He Kan in Wuhan. The second son of Dean Tang was also a third-year student in the oil painting department at that time. On a whim, he came to inspect for a day and gave everyone voluntary guidance.

As mentioned above, Hubei Academy of Fine Arts is the only specialized art college in Central China, so many art candidates come here for training. There are not only Hubei candidates in our class, but also candidates from Hunan, Jiangxi and Henan. This is the case for students who plan to take the art test. At ordinary times, there is no hope to apply for ordinary colleges because of my partial academic performance, so I cram for the time being, hoping to master painting skills through several months of training, so as to be admitted to art colleges. There are also many repeat students. At that time, the monitor and deputy monitor failed in the exam the year before last, and they made a comeback this year, so their painting level was among the best in the class.

In the eyes of the public, artists advocate the so-called freedom of personality, often slovenly, and have a rather eccentric temper. According to my observation, the same is true for painters. Teachers and students in the Academy of Fine Arts are dressed casually. This is understandable, because painters have to deal with charcoal strips and pigments every day, which is no different from painters. It is impossible to wear suits and ties. Therefore, there was a saying circulating at that time: "From a distance, it looks like a refugee, and from a close look, it looks like a beggar. A closer look shows that it was originally from the Academy of Fine Arts. " Although the painters are plain-looking, everyone lives with pride, taking Xu Beihong's famous saying that "people should not be arrogant, but they should not be arrogant" as the standard.

The teaching methods of the training courses are all for exams, teaching our teachers multiple roles, and also serving as marking teachers for the Hubei Provincial Art Entrance Examination every year, so they are very clear about this industry. We usually sketch for two weeks, and then color for two weeks. Sketching is necessary every day. The sketch class draws plaster statues or real people's heads, the color class draws gouache still lifes, and sketches characters' dynamics. Every day from morning till night, pencils, paper and pigments are also very expensive. You don't need to paint only on Sunday, you will arrange for teachers to come over for cultural classes. On this day, there will always be people skipping classes and running outside. I often give myself a holiday on Sunday and visit the beautiful Jiangcheng, and I have no impression of the cultural classes there. The only thing I remember clearly is that in the current political class, the teacher talked about the "zipper door incident" between Clinton and Lewinsky.

Teacher Yang Dan is a Chinese character, which gives people a sense of majesty. In fact, he is very kind and modest, unlike some teachers who are arrogant and put on airs. Teacher Yang Dan told us frankly that he is a wage earner now and all our students are his bosses. If you have any questions in your study, please feel free to ask him. I remember that a building was being built on the construction site next to the studio. When Mr. Yang explained the major steps of painting to us, he had such a wonderful theory: outlining is equivalent to building the framework of a house, laying colors is equivalent to building walls and scraping white, and depicting details is equivalent to installing lights on doors and windows. These figurative metaphors inspired everyone and deepened their understanding.

Teacher Fu Hong is very young and likes to wear a cap. A few years ago, she just graduated from Hu Mei and stayed as a teacher. Among young painters, he is open-minded, not superstitious about authority and has his own unique views. Once, Mr. Fu Hong saw a classmate's sketch reference book with inappropriate content, and drew a bunch of various facial features on it, so that beginners could put it in each picture like a set of formulas. He immediately said majestically, who wrote this book? It is simply harmful! And turn over to see editors and publishers, as if to draw a line with them. From then on, I knew that art was a feeling, not a rule.

Teacher Fu Hong often gives me careful guidance, which makes a female classmate next to me very jealous. When Mr. Fu just left, he asked me strangely, is Fu Hong a relative of your family? I'm confused, and the honest answer is no. The female classmate said again, then why is he so good to you? I'm speechless. Maybe Mr. Fu saw that my foundation was poor and gave me a few more pointers. It is because of this conversation that I know the teacher's name is Fu Hong. Not long ago, I squatted on the ground and sketched a portrait. He patted me on the shoulder behind me and said, Today you have made the greatest progress. Before class, I went outside to comment on everyone's paintings as usual. Teacher Fu pointed to my painting and said that this classmate made the greatest progress today.

Let's talk about Jing Wong and He Kan, high flyers of two oil painting departments. I only saw them on the first day when they were brought to the studio by Mr. Shan Wen. Teacher Wen introduced them to other teachers first. One teacher asked them what grade they were in, and they replied that they were in the third grade. Jing Wong and He Kan were also big boys at that time, not much bigger than us art test candidates. Jing Wong is handsome, with good features and long flowing hair. He looks like a movie star, very chic. He Kan, on the other hand, is a little weak, with a delicate face and figure. Later, Jing Wong broke the news that He Kan was treated as a Japanese by the staff in the scenic spot and made a big joke.

In my impression, Jing Wong and He Kan gave us more color lessons. They were very enthusiastic at that time. They also brought treasures from the oil painting studio-copper hot pot, pottery pots, porcelain and other set props to paint gouache still lifes for us, and repeatedly told them that these treasures are in their oil painting department, so don't spoil them.

Because everyone is about the same age, Jing Wong and He Kan will not only teach us painting skills, but also chat and joke with us, tell us some stories about their going out every year to draw sketches, and show us the photo albums they took when they went to Tibet Plateau in the evening, as well as the sketch exercise books in class at ordinary times. One Sunday night, few people in the studio painted. Encouraged by other students, the two of them took us to the game hall near the college to play Peter Pan.

In order to cultivate our artistic appreciation ability, the college teacher will also show you slides in the evening, showing the world famous paintings frame by frame and giving a detailed explanation. When talking about David's masterpiece "death of marat", the teacher said that he had seen the original when traveling in Europe, and the oil paints on the canvas were piled up in many layers with oil painting knives, reaching several inches thick, which surprised us.

On Christmas Eve this year, the students of the Academy of Fine Arts held a unique cultural performance on campus, including songs, dances, cross talks and sketches. But what I still remember is a stage sitcom "Match Paradise", in which several male and female students perform in the center of the stage, and a long-haired boy who looks like a member of the power train sits by with his guitar. She brushes the strings, twists them slowly, sweeps them, plucks them sometimes and sweeps them sometimes to accompany a girl who sings loudly. It was because of that performance that I found the man who can play the guitar so handsome.

At that time, there was no enrollment expansion in colleges and universities, and the elimination rate of art candidates was much higher than that of ordinary college entrance examination. At that time, there were about 7,500 people in the province who took the college entrance examination for fine arts, and the actual admission was 1500, which was equivalent to one fifth, so most people just joined in the fun and traveled to and from Wuhan. This is what happened to me. Later, I didn't want to repeat the same mistakes, so I stepped into the society and tasted life.

I seldom talked about this art trip in the Academy of Fine Arts, only blaming myself for my poor painting level, for fear of smashing other people's signs. If I meet a friend with artistic expertise, I will talk about this topic and joke that although I am not proficient in art, I am also a famous teacher and give myself a face. You know, Hu Mei once trained an internationally renowned artist like Ceng Fanzhi.

Nowadays, the development of the times is not the same as that of the last century in all aspects. Young people should read as much as possible, and there is no need to work too early, because you will never make more money than you know. Knowledge changes fate, and ability is value. Don't confuse your children with sharpening their knives, read more books, and you will have more choices when you enter the society, instead of waiting for others to choose you.

Liang Wendao said in Le Ji: "Reading some useless books, doing some useless things, and spending some useless time are all for keeping an opportunity to surpass oneself in addition to all known things. Some great changes in life began from this moment. " Although these words are suspected of chicken soup, they are quite reasonable. Life is full of challenges, no one knows which cloud has rain, and opportunities are always reserved for those who are prepared. Only if you have worked hard can you be worthy of yourself and not regret your youth.

The eighteen-year-old sky is full of beautiful rainbows, like a psychedelic dream. Peach and plum spring breeze, a glass of wine, ten years of night rain. After Qian Fan, my heart is still a teenager!
