Henan Open University is a new undergraduate institution of higher learning approved by the Ministry of Education and sponsored by the People's Government of Henan Province. Formerly known as Henan Radio and TV University, it was founded in 1979, and officially changed its name to Henan Open University in June 2020. With the mission of promoting lifelong learning for all and building a skilled society, supported by modern information technology and characterized by "internet plus", the school carries out academic education and non-academic education for the society. In 2009, with the consent of the provincial government, Zhengzhou Vocational College of Information Technology, a public full-time general vocational college, was managed by the school. The two universities implement the operation mode of "one organization, two brands, unified leadership and integrated operation".
