The predecessor of the school is Suzhou Institute of Arts and Crafts, which was founded in August 1958. The school formerly known as Suzhou Institute of Technology was founded in 19 1 1. 198 1 in may, suzhou vocational university was established. In July 2005, the former suzhou vocational university, Suzhou Institute of Education, Suzhou Staff University of Science and Technology (Suzhou Federation of Trade Unions Cadre School) and Suzhou Radio and TV University (Suzhou Staff University) merged to form the new suzhou vocational university (Suzhou Radio and TV University).
