What are the distinctive artistic features of Chaozhou embroidery?
Chaozhou embroidery has distinctive artistic features, which can be summarized as five words: paving, padding, nailing, stitching and sewing.

The so-called paving is to lay roving on a painting where a thin pad or bottom is needed; Cushion, that is, paper cotton wool at the bottom, embossed to highlight the image; Nail, that is, nail gold thread, silver thread or pad nail and pad cotton on the laying line; Sticking, that is, dividing the object into small pieces of embroidery, and then collaging the embroidered parts into a whole; Mosaic is to adjust and modify the whole work after the combination of works, just like Chinese painting adjusts and modifies the picture.

The technical treatment of these five embroidery techniques often makes embroidery present a relief-like artistic effect: three-dimensional, magnificent and full of composition. The artistic features of Chaozhou embroidery are different from those of Suzhou embroidery, Xiang embroidery and Shu embroidery, because Chaozhou embroidery has a three-dimensional sense.
