I. Contents and Significance of the Eight Major Programmes

1, Yin and Yang

Yin and yang are the general principles of eight categories of syndrome differentiation in traditional Chinese medicine. Su Wen's Yin and Yang should be like a great theory, saying, "A good doctor should look at the color pulse and not talk about Yin and Yang first." Yin-yang syndrome differentiation divides all diseases into two categories: Yin and Yang. Such as kidney yin deficiency, kidney yang deficiency, heart yin deficiency and heart yang deficiency.

Yin and Yang Can are classified into other six categories, namely exterior syndrome, heat syndrome and excess syndrome as yang; Internal syndrome, cold syndrome and deficiency syndrome all belong to yin.

2. Internal and external training

Exterior and interior are two procedures to distinguish the inside and outside of the disease site and the depth of the disease site, which are a pair of relative concepts.

In a narrow sense, exterior and interior refers to the fur, skin and meridians of the body as exterior, and viscera and bone marrow as interior. From the outside, diseases belong to the exterior, and from the inside, diseases belong to the interior.

As far as the severity of the disease is concerned, the exterior syndrome is shallow and light, while the interior syndrome is deep and heavy; When exogenous pathogens enter the interior, the disease progresses; When exogenous pathogens go out, the disease will subside. Exterior-interior syndrome differentiation is suitable for exogenous diseases, and the severity and trend of diseases can be observed.

3. Cold and hot

Cold and heat are two procedures to distinguish the nature of diseases. Cold syndrome and heat syndrome reflect the rise and fall of yin and yang, yin deficiency or yang deficiency is cold syndrome, and yang deficiency or yang deficiency is heat syndrome. Syndrome differentiation of cold and heat is of great significance in treatment.

4. Virtual reality

Virtual and real are two procedures to distinguish the rise and fall of evil. Deficiency refers to the lack of healthy qi, in fact, it refers to the excess of pathogenic factors. Syndrome differentiation of deficiency and excess can provide basis for treatment, and tonify deficiency and diarrhea.

Second, dialectical application.

Using eight categories of yin and yang, exterior and interior, cold and heat, and excess and deficiency, the depth of diseases, the nature and rise and fall of pathogenic factors, and the strength and weakness of healthy qi of human body are summarized and classified, which provides dialectical methods for treatment.

The eight principles of syndrome differentiation are divided into four pairs: yin and yang, exterior and interior, cold and heat, and excess and deficiency. Clinical application, such as the concrete results of deficiency and excess of cold and heat in yin and yang, can be used to establish disease and guide treatment.
