Zhejiang Conservatory of Music was founded in 1958, formerly known as Hangzhou Art Institute. 1986 was upgraded to a full-time general higher art college and renamed Hangzhou Art Vocational College. 1993, four-year college enrollment, renamed Hangzhou Art Vocational and Technical College. In 2004, it was upgraded to a general art college and renamed as Zhejiang Conservatory of Music.
