First, the meaning and content of quality curriculum construction
The construction of top-quality courses is an important part of the "Teaching Quality and Teaching Reform Project in Colleges and Universities" implemented by the Ministry of Education. The construction of top-quality courses requires the proper use of modern teaching techniques, methods and means, embodies modern educational ideas, conforms to the universal laws of science, progress and education, and has distinctive characteristics of the times. To promote the construction of excellent courses, we must have first-class teachers, first-class teaching contents, first-class teaching methods, first-class teaching materials and first-class teaching management. Specifically, it should include six aspects: first, in the construction of teachers, it is required to gradually form a teacher echelon with reasonable structure, stable personnel, high teaching level and good teaching effect, and to equip tutors and experimental teachers in a certain proportion. Second, in the construction of teaching content, it should be advanced and scientific, and can reflect the latest scientific and technological achievements in this field in time. Thirdly, in terms of teaching methods, we should adopt advanced teaching methods and means, and relevant teaching outlines, teaching plans, exercises, experimental guidance and bibliography can be accessed online and opened free of charge to realize the enjoyment of high-quality teaching resources. Fourthly, in the construction of teaching materials, the teaching materials should be a series of excellent teaching materials, and lecturers can write and produce relevant teaching materials themselves, or choose national excellent teaching materials and foreign high-level original teaching materials. Fifth, in laboratory construction, reform the form and content of experimental teaching, encourage comprehensive and designed experiments, and encourage undergraduates to participate in scientific research activities. Sixth, in the mechanism construction, there should be a new employment mechanism and corresponding incentive evaluation mechanism to encourage professors to undertake and highly educated teachers to participate in the construction of excellent courses. From the above characteristics, we can see that the construction of top-quality courses is a comprehensive systematic project involving teachers, students, teaching materials, teaching concepts, teaching management, teaching methods, teaching contents and teaching means. In the construction of school top-quality courses, the key is to activate teachers' teaching enthusiasm through mechanism innovation, carry out curriculum construction in a solid way, drive and promote the overall construction of the whole school curriculum with curriculum construction management, and improve the teaching level of the school.
Second, the specific ideas and methods for the construction of excellent college English courses
Between 1998 and 2002, the enrollment of colleges and universities in China has more than tripled. It is predicted that by 20 10, the gross enrollment rate of colleges and universities will reach 18%, and higher education will basically be popularized. In March 2004, our school was transformed into a comprehensive university with the approval of the expert group of the Ministry of Education. The scale of running a school also expanded rapidly and the number of students increased greatly. At present, on the one hand, our school is facing the transformation of normal colleges, and at the same time, due to the expansion of its scale, it has to adopt the teaching mode of large classes, and the quality of classroom teaching is facing new challenges, especially for public courses such as college English, and even super-large classes with multiple classes participating together. In this case, in order to ensure the goal of "improving college students' comprehensive English application ability in an all-round way, so that China college students can basically understand radio, communicate in simple English, and have a certain degree of writing and translation skills", it is necessary to maximize the integration and utilization of existing high-quality teaching resources and improve the teaching level and level. It can be said that the implementation of excellent courses has become the only way for college English teaching under the new situation.
1. The goal of the construction of excellent college English courses. The purpose of the construction of top-quality courses is to make college English courses have influential academic leaders, and to ensure the long-term stability and improvement of quality teaching with full-time teachers with high scientific research level, strong strength and reasonable structure; It has a set of teaching contents with complete system, advanced content and meeting the training objectives, training specifications and basic teaching requirements; Have a complete teaching material system, compile and publish excellent teaching materials suitable for top-quality courses; There is a set of teaching methods to cultivate students' scientific research ability and innovative spirit and the teaching means needed by modern network teaching; At the same time, teaching organization and management should be scientific and standardized.
2. The construction of excellent college English courses should focus on the improvement of teaching content and teaching methods. At the same time, it is necessary to reform teaching methods, change the traditional teacher-centered and indoctrinating teaching methods, follow the laws of education and teaching and students' cognition, take learners as the center, make and use flexible, simple and practical classroom teaching courseware and online self-learning courseware for students, fully mobilize students' enthusiasm for self-learning and improve their self-cognition ability. In order to enable teachers to master and use advanced teaching methods scientifically, the College English Teaching Department of our university actively encourages teachers to participate in technical level training, multimedia courseware making training and excellent teaching evaluation activities, and actively explores self-made classroom courseware. All the teaching materials in this college have made matching classroom courseware, which has laid a good foundation for improving teaching methods. While adopting multimedia teaching, we should inherit the essence of traditional teaching, give full play to teachers' personality charm in classroom teaching, and realize the mutual infection of teachers and students' emotions with interesting explanations, so that students can actively participate in and integrate into classroom learning, greatly improving the efficiency and effect of learning.
3. The construction of excellent college English courses should strengthen the construction of teachers. The premise and foundation of the construction of top-quality courses is to do a good job in the construction of teachers. In this regard, teachers are first required to have a reasonable knowledge structure. The team should include not only course teachers with professional theoretical knowledge and practical skills, but also professionals familiar with modern information technology and network technology, as well as experts in educational psychology. Through the cooperation of people with different academic backgrounds, the three-dimensional construction of the course can be realized. Secondly, under a reasonable knowledge structure, we should build a teaching echelon that combines the old, the young and the middle to ensure the continuity of excellent courses. Thirdly, teachers should adhere to the combination of college English curriculum construction with scientific research and teaching research. Third, the problems and countermeasures in the construction of excellent college English courses
After more than two years of hard exploration, the College English Teaching Department of our university has made remarkable achievements in promoting the construction of excellent college English courses, but there are also some problems. Mainly in the following two aspects:
1. Some teachers don't know enough in thought. Some teachers don't know enough about the requirements and contents of excellent courses, and think that the construction of excellent courses is only the work of the leaders of the teaching department; The vision of other teachers is limited to the traditional teaching mode, and the concept of teaching excellent courses has not been fully established. In view of this problem, we should strengthen the propaganda and training of the concept of excellent courses, so that the majority of front-line teachers can further realize the important role, status and significance of the construction of excellent courses; At the same time, a good evaluation and support mechanism is formed in the system, which urges teachers to focus on the future development, constantly update teaching contents, constantly improve teaching methods, constantly absorb new achievements, adapt to the needs of the dynamic development of the new situation, and keep the curriculum at a sustainable high level.
2. Insufficient courseware support. At present, in order to promote the transformation of teaching methods, college English teaching department has produced a large number of excellent college English course courseware by hand. Judging from the current situation, making these courseware is not only time-consuming and laborious, but also limited by the technical level, with more static manuscripts and less dynamic audio and video, which has limited effect on improving teaching effect. Moreover, the resources between universities cannot be shared, and the utilization rate of some excellent courseware is relatively low. The next step is to increase investment in software and hardware, use advanced technical means, establish * * * resources, and quickly accumulate a large number of excellent courseware to meet the needs of the construction of excellent college English courses.
