I want to write a resume. How should I write it? How to write a better format? What should the content be written?
Tell you everything about your job search (an article transferred from a forum moderator)

At the request of many friends, I sorted out my thoughts and decided to share some questions and skills that everyone should pay attention to in the interview. First of all, let me briefly introduce myself. He has been engaged in HR recruitment for more than 65,438+0 years in the headquarters of a German giant ranking in the top 30 of the world's top 500, and participated in many cases and campus recruitment activities in 2008 (it is a cow company that many engineering students yearn for). I also have the quotation of MT project of foreign commercial bank in my hand, and I am used to it face to face or face to face. Therefore,

Before writing formally, I want to say that I have read many interviews in forums and can only tell you objectively that some of them are misunderstood. Many views of outsiders and people in it will change. In fact, many so-called resume templates are meaningless, and English sentences commonly used in interviews are only small reference things, which will be introduced in detail in subsequent articles. As for the hidden rules in the interview, I would like to say that they do exist, but they only exist in state-owned enterprises and central enterprises. State-owned enterprises do not talk about market rules, but more about politics and power (like the recent "East-New Love"). I even heard from students in Shanghai and abroad that the so-called HR of those central enterprises sent suggestive messages to relevant students in the hotel at night after the symbolic interview in the morning. I think what this means is clear to everyone, and I won't discuss it here. In a foreign company, you can rest assured that even if you recruit an intern, you will go through several rounds of rigorous interviews and comparisons. For people with connections, you often only pass the first level, and then you will compete as fair as everyone else. Unless you have a wide network of people, that is to say, you don't have to worry at all, because they don't occupy the normal establishment at all, as Microsoft does. So such an environment should be said to be fair and just. Ok, I'll introduce them to you in different categories.

About resume

There is no doubt that a resume is the first thing to apply for a job. As I said before, there are many templates and introductions about resumes on the Internet, but what I said is actually of little use. Some people's resumes are fancy, but they will only be deleted directly by us. Why, resume should be simple, instead of using resume to show how strong your writing ability and PS ability are. If it is the actual combat mode, I still recommend the format of 5 1job, ChinaHR.com and Zhaopin.com, which generally includes personal introduction, personal information, education background, social activities, project experience, work experience, hobbies, and certificates to prove these contents.

Resumes generally need one in Chinese and one in English. After all, many line managers of foreign companies are foreigners. Your resume needs to be as detailed as possible. I suggest that you write a personal introduction at the beginning of your resume, which is equivalent to a summary, so that people can get to know you basically from the beginning. Personal information should be written in detail, especially contact information, fixed telephone and mobile email address, so that HR can contact you. I think everyone knows about education and social activities. Write down some activities you participated in at school, some achievements and breakthroughs you made. If you don't have any student union experience, it's not difficult, and clubs can do it. However, if it's time to find a job and you start to realize that you haven't participated in any activities in college, you can only ask yourself what you did in the previous time, no wonder others. If you have internship experience, you will give yourself extra points. The work content and responsibilities of internship should be clearly written and not passed on. If you have no project experience, you don't have to write it. It doesn't matter. Finally, write about your hobbies and some certificates, especially in English. Such a good resume is completed. After all, the resume is just a reference. What matters is the content, not the form, and there is no obvious difference.

In addition, the content in your resume should be true and don't exaggerate yourself too much. You know, lies need more lies to make up for them. I found many such situations in my work, which are easy to be challenged and directly lose an opportunity. I hope everyone will pay attention to it. One more thing, different people have different opinions. Personally, I suggest not to post photos on your resume. If you think you are handsome and beautiful, please make the photo smaller before posting it. Why do you say that? I have to deny that a person's appearance still accounts for a lot of impression points in the application, especially those junior jobs. Everyone has similar abilities, so why not choose the most beautiful one? If you post a photo, you may be rejected directly by the manager, and you will lose more than just an interview. Without meeting a real person, everyone has equal opportunities, and your personal ability can completely impress the manager in the interview. Finally, when submitting your resume, don't paste it directly unless the other person clearly points it out. Generally, a big company like ours has its own independent recruitment system, and everyone only needs to upload files in the last step. As to whether it is a word document or a pdf document, we prefer word, because we can edit it directly and comment at any time. I think everyone can understand.

About online application

If you want to apply for a job in a large foreign-funded company, you must go through the online application step, pay more attention to the BBS of your university and the advertisements of the three major recruitment websites, which is not difficult to find. The content of the online application is similar to your resume, so after completing a detailed resume, those contents only need to be copied and pasted. The most important thing about online application is the final open question, which is generally three questions, and all major companies are similar. Personally, I think only CICC and Mars are more difficult. Don't deal with these problems casually. Some people think they are awesome and don't answer. Some people answer them in Chinese. Will such a person have a chance? Although the problem is simple, this material will always accompany the final face and even affect the final choice, so both the content and grammar should be considered by yourself. In addition, since all the problems are similar, copying and pasting is inevitable, so please take some time to check after pasting, and don't leave the language praising the former company to the latter.

In addition, there are many opinions about when the online application materials will be delivered. Last year, I personally participated in and was responsible for the recruitment of a trainee program in the company (of course, I saw many students among them). The fact is that the better the company receives more resumes, some companies can search directly with keywords, and then conduct large-scale written examination screening. In addition, in order to save the recruitment cost, it is directly screened by hand (borrowing classrooms from schools costs a lot of money), so it is impossible to read tens of thousands of resumes in a short time (campus recruitment is only a part of normal work, not an independent project), so only one range will be selected for reading, generally around 1 000. The principle in recruitment is that there is no best, only the best, so you won't spend so much effort to read it all. You have to understand the meaning, the best release time is in the middle and late period of the whole schedule, too early to see it, too late to see it.

Finally, it is often said that your resume will be kept by us for 3 months, and I will contact you when there is a suitable opportunity. You will doubt its authenticity, so I can tell you that it is completely true. Sometimes, there is indeed a candidate who is excellent, but there is no suitable position, but we will be put in the warehouse as a backup by him and used whenever there is an opportunity, so what matters is your personal strength.

About salary

I think this problem must be everyone's greatest concern. Even people who have worked now may not know much about it. I'm talking about foreign companies here, and state-owned enterprises should be similar. The salary consists of the following parts: basic salary+incentive (bonus) +OT+ allowance, and there will also be commission for sales, that is, commission. Then I said one by one, the basic salary is the basic monthly salary, which is also what everyone cares about most, but many companies have different algorithms for this, so sometimes you have to understand that some relatively high-paying companies will be introduced later. Monthly salary is not the only focus of comparison, but more attention should be paid to company-related benefits and insurance. Many companies will pay 5 gold, 6 gold, 7 gold and even 8 gold besides the 4 gold stipulated by the state. Some companies implement an annuity system, which is actually similar. Some companies also have housing subsidies, transportation subsidies and telephone subsidies. You know, these add up to a lot of money, the most is 2K per month, and there is no tax. In addition, welfare is insurance. Some companies have perfect insurance, children can enjoy it, and annual leave is also very humanized. Incentives are year-end awards, which are also divided into two categories. Some companies set your bonus base according to your level, and then determine the bonus coefficient according to the company's operating conditions and your personal performance, which is generally between 1-2 times. The practice of other companies is that the monthly salary is 14 months to 16 months, which is also in accordance with the above standards. OT is overtime pay. In addition to the Big Four, most foreign companies also work overtime every day, but the overtime pay is also considerable. Allowances are subsidies, such as how much you can get for a business trip, and miscellaneous contents such as overtime taxi reimbursement. Some Fortune 500 companies can stay in 5-star hotels on business trips.

Therefore, everyone should know a lot. Many people avoid talking about salary in the interview, but they will be asked every time, so before that, we must look at the JD of each position and get a general understanding of the level of this position, so that we can roughly estimate the salary range of the other party. Don't overestimate yourself and don't sell yourself cheaply. Really need skills and some market information. It's stupid to ask HR what your criteria are on the spot, because we won't tell you. We ask this question to see the motivation of the candidate, but also to see whether the other party is within our estimated cost and whether there is room for negotiation. The gap is too big, so we naturally won't consider it, so we should do more homework at ordinary times.

About industry

Your first job is still very important for your future development direction. If you want to change careers in the future, it is tantamount to starting over. Therefore, when you choose a job, you must be clear about how you want to develop in the future. Many people don't know what they want to do when looking for a job, so those who have no direction are directly eliminated by the company. In this choice, we must ask what the future development of HR positions is, and the development space of some positions is really small.

As for the choice of industry, I personally study business, but my internship company is a giant in the field of automation, so I can give some suggestions on this issue. Many people are staring at the best department of a company, and they are often hit hard. But in fact, the top 50 of the world's top 500 companies are all dominant countries and diversified companies, such as GE and Siemens. Maybe they are not the best in a certain field, but that doesn't mean they have no good development prospects.

Here are some high-paying companies. I won't talk about investment banking, as everyone knows, but the reality is that very few people can stay in a company like Goldman Sachs for more than two years. Competition, pressure and workload are the prerequisites for your high salary. Sometimes it is a good consideration to choose some small investment banks whose salaries are between the top four and the company MT. The consulting pressure is relatively small and the salary is similar, so I won't say much. The salary of commercial bank MT project is higher in Standard Chartered, Hang Seng, HSBC and ABN Amro. Some obscure banks are not the most clear, but as long as they are MT projects, the development space and salary will not be bad. I won't talk about the big four. There are too many comments about him, and the price/performance ratio is a bit low. As I said before, the monthly salary and benefits of some top 500 companies will not be much different from those of the Big Four, but you have gained health and time. It depends on your choice, but it is true that the annual turnover rate of the Big Four is the highest. Followed by some top 500 companies with higher salaries, such as Mars and P & amp;; Maersk, GM, Ford, Google, SAP, Oracle Bone Inscriptions, and big companies like Microsoft, IBM, Siemens, GM, Sony and Unilever will not let you down. There are also some companies that we don't know well at ordinary times, such as the five major real estate developers, Korea Telecom, Starwood and Bertelsmann, which can't be ignored.

Corporate culture is actually very important. American-funded enterprises are free to work, but the deadline is very tight, sometimes under great pressure, and some do not want employees to work overtime, so the hierarchy is strict. German-funded and French-funded companies have a good atmosphere and good welfare, but they are very demanding and strict about various projects. Japanese companies give people the impression that their work is a bit depressing, and the workload of Taiwan Province companies is not mentioned.

About electrical surfaces

After submitting your resume, be prepared to receive a call from HR at any time. Leave your cell phone on. Usually I can't get through three times, so I probably won't have a chance. After all, there are so many people in China, and many times the other party's phone is not in a straight line, so it's too late for you to react. The most extreme example I have encountered is that someone got a call from McKinsey in the early morning, which is not impossible. I also called the candidates after 6 pm and received calls from other companies after 8 pm, so I always remember that my mobile phone was on and the phone bill was enough, because sometimes the calls came from abroad. If you happen to be sleeping, cheer up as soon as possible, and don't let people think that there is something wrong with your attitude.

Comrades who have experienced interviews later know that spoken English is a must, and sometimes it is English from the beginning of greeting to give you a surprise. At this time, you must react quickly, don't be surprised, and don't explain that you are not ready. This is an examination of you. In fact, the problem of electrical surface is hard to say, and it will not be difficult. We will prepare a piece of paper in advance to write down some questions when we are recruiting in the campus collective electricity, which is also convenient for us to ask questions. It is very common to have your personal introduction, and it doesn't need to be long and comprehensive, because it just warms you up and adjusts your mentality.

The following questions will be: What are your strengths (strengths) and weaknesses? Needless to say, there are too many strengths, which are untrue. You should also be prepared for your weaknesses. What are your work objectives? Why did you choose our company and this project? This is very common. What greater achievements have you made during your school work? /interpersonal/social activities? And give an example to illustrate your team spirit/similarity/adaptability/balance between study and work? These will be asked selectively, whether in the interview or in the subsequent rounds of interviews, so prepare more examples, don't repeat them, and don't make them up, because it will be easy for people to find flaws. If you encounter some simple problems, then you should pay attention. This is your last chance. If you can't even answer those questions well, you'll have to be eliminated. It's a pity.

Don't ask HR too many questions at the end of the interview. It's no use asking so many questions. Secondly, HR time is precious, leaving a good impression on both sides.

About written test

In the whole recruitment process, this is an indispensable link, and some companies only have written tests. There are two tests, a logic test and a professional test. There will be three, plus a personality test. As the topic is confidential, you won't know until you have experienced it. When you take English in the general logic exam, most of the questions are in English. You will see the speed of doing the questions in the second exam, and you will lose points if you make mistakes. Sequence and calculation are required questions. Some companies will have Chinese-English translation, others will ask for writing, but the ability to test is nothing more than math and English. IBM's topics are very classic, and SHL's topics are the most used and relatively difficult, similar to IELTS reading and a lot of calculations, but people are good at it.

As for the personality test, some people specialize in it, but in fact, many of them still don't explain anything. After all, a person's potential cannot be measured by just a few questions. Generally, you can fill it out according to your actual situation. In the BT test of Standard Chartered, you should pay attention to the answers before and after, and be clear-headed when doing it. In Maersk's test, you should pay attention to the choice of positive and negative adjectives. I think the others are similar.

On the surface of a group

The group face, also called AC (assessment center), is a pass after passing the written test, usually only once, and some companies will have AC twice. Speaking of AC, you are most familiar with the Big Four. In fact, except for the notice that you must dress formally, you don't have to wear it at other times, but now everyone is still very conscious, and they are basically professional clothes. The form of AC is also very common, basically in English, and some even discuss it in English. Generally, it consists of three parts: self-introduction, group discussion and case analysis, which lasts for half a day. In fact, it is almost the same for the four groups to discuss stories. I won't say much about personal introduction, but sometimes I suddenly ask you to introduce each other and examine your team ability, so you should pay attention to it yourself. Group discussion is basically to discuss a daily topic, surrounded by managers and HR colleagues. Case analysis is the focus. Everyone should make a statement at the end and control the time with the whole team. Relatively speaking, the four major cases are not difficult, and some cases of SHL are still more troublesome. If it lasts for a day, there will be group activities, so that everyone can design something together and make a demonstration with the provided materials, which is also a way to examine the comprehensive quality.

Many people are afraid to meet people in the group, feel that people around them are experts, feel that their major has little to do with their work, and don't know how to express themselves best. I can answer you, the best way is to be yourself, cooperate with confidence, and deliberately show that it will only be counterproductive, and the major is irrelevant, but there will be unexpected ideas. In AC, you will often meet some aggressive people. Don't shrink back, express your opinions, because those people may not be right. How to coordinate the whole team and how to highlight yourself unconsciously requires skills and language appeal. Not everyone can do it, and it is impossible without the accumulation of university activities. So, don't think too much, don't be too stressed, enjoy yourself and make friends, and your play will be fine.

Finally, in view of my own AC experience as an interviewer, I tell you that it is difficult to inspect so many people in a short time in a group, except for the best and the worst, the rest are a little difficult to distinguish. There are several key factors at this time. First, English, as you should have noticed, always occupies a major position in the whole interview process. Because there is no correct case answer, I can't see the game. And it can be cultivated in the future, so English is the most important. Secondly, it is the information you fill in from the beginning to the end of the online application. Finally, there are some subjective factors. People who speak unnaturally will not leave any impression on the observers. In addition, if the students of famous schools don't show their corresponding abilities, they can only be sorry, and they would rather be the head of a chicken than the tail of a phoenix.

About one side

One is HR, and the last is manager. The form of HR face is just a repetition before. Ask those questions again, and then you won't be embarrassed. HR will specifically tell you the future development of this project, understand your specific salary requirements, and the current job status (that is, whether there is an Offer). After all, it is the choice of both sides.

Finally, I met the manager. At this point, there is nothing to say. Look at fate. Because the people who can survive here are excellent, just look at what kind of managers like and what kind of fresh blood his team needs more. Being brushed to this degree will be really depressing, but don't lose heart. Believe in your own strength. If you don't want this home, naturally there are other homes. Of course, many times, students who have been brushed off will be recommended by HR to try other department bosses. Well, it really depends on luck.

The above is the whole process of job hunting. A large foreign company will basically include these steps, and companies in some industries will make some changes. For example, McKinsey will do case studies in every interview, but they will not deviate from this model. Next, write something you need to know.

About quotation

It must be pleasant to get this job. Everyone can't wait to get the tripartite agreement and sign it. However, it should be noted that the offer is not a formal contract after all, although it also has legal effect. After receiving the letter of admission, you will be asked to have a physical examination. If the medical examination is unqualified, you can cancel the admission directly. In addition, if you don't perform well during the probation period, you can cancel the Offer. Investment banks often do this, so you should start trying to win the contract after you get the Offer.

In addition, on the Offer, it is often said that one month's salary will be paid as a penalty for breach of contract, which makes many students who are tied up by the Big Four in advance very embarrassed. In fact, this has no legal benefits, unless it is a foreign training program. So think of any reason to refuse them, and then go to school to get a tripartite agreement. Although the procedure is a bit troublesome, the school will never refuse to see the money.

Finally, I would like to mention that some fresh graduates signed lease contracts when they entered the company, that is, contracts with FESCO foreign service. The reasons are as follows: first, every department has a head standard every fiscal year, and when it is used up, it can only sign a contract with foreign service; Second, some recent graduates have junior qualifications, and the department does not want to waste the establishment. After all, it costs money. In fact, the only difference between leasing and formal is that you can't join some trade unions and clubs of the company for free, and you can't buy preferential tickets with your employee number. The rest is the same, don't miss the opportunity.

About others

Others are piecemeal, such as job-hopping. In addition to using our own recruitment system, we also use the resources of three major websites, so sometimes candidates will wonder how they get calls from some companies. For job-hopping, what is more important is your own motivation. People who value money generally don't stay long, so they don't spend that cost. You can think about this later. Generally, the salary increase for job-hopping is between 20% and 50%. If it exceeds, the lion will open his mouth. Also, people who want to change jobs because of personality problems will not consider it. Most people want to change a better development environment. Of course, the reasons for this are also carefully pondered. It is difficult to jump slowly in a company, and the best way to improve is to jump between competitors in the same industry.

Regarding salary increase, foreign companies will basically evaluate the performance of employees after the end of a fiscal year and decide the salary increase. Some banks raise wages once every six months, which is faster. These can consult their corresponding human resources consultants after joining the company. The job fair is handed over to the consultant after completing a person's recruitment, and I won't say much about the latter unless I am most familiar with it.
