Beidaihe Scenic Area, located in Beidaihe District, Qinhuangdao City, is one of the four bird-watching resorts in the world. It is known as the "bird-watching holy land" and a national AAAA-level tourist attraction. From the northeast of Beidaihe Scenic Area to Geziwo Park, there are more than 6,600 hectares of forests and more than 500,000 mu of wetlands. Mudflats, lagoons and stagnant rivers formed at the estuaries of Daihe River and Ganges River are named "Beidaihe Wetland" by the international convention on wetland protection and are protected by the state.
The good ecological environment of Beidaihe Scenic Area has brought a lot of biological resources and become a post for migratory birds from south to north. Except in winter, a large number of wild migratory birds can be seen at any time of the year, and more than 400 species have been found, including many rare species in the world.
