Guangdong Yuedong Technician College, founded in 1970, is the first national key public technical college at the deputy departmental level in the province, which is directly affiliated to guangdong provincial department of human resources and social security. Formerly known as Shantou Industrial School and Guangdong Yuedong Senior Technical School, it is a national high-skilled personnel training base, a national vocational skill appraisal institute, a provincial high-skilled personnel training base, a provincial Chaozhou cuisine professional R&D and application base, the first batch of "school-enterprise dual system" demonstration institutions in the province, an advanced unit of national vocational and technical education, an "excellent scientific research unit" of China Vocational Association and an "excellent unit" of school-enterprise cooperation in provincial technical colleges.

By June, 2022, there were 658 faculty members and students 12585, including Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security think tank experts 1 person in the field of vocational capacity building, 9 provincial supervisors in technical schools, 2 special allowance experts from the State Council, national technical experts 1 person and 23 provincial technical experts.

National demonstration major: application of 3D printing technology. National key construction majors: CNC machining (intelligent manufacturing), clothing production and marketing. It has: provincial-level toy design and manufacturing training base, electric automation training base supported by the central government, off-campus training base of Guangdong Technical Teachers College, national training base of high-skilled personnel inspection and testing professional group, technical training base of chemical laboratory of Guangdong World Skills Competition, China Chaocai Center, provincial-level Chaocai professional R&D and application base, and provincial-level "Cantonese cuisine master" training base.
