The Institute of Artificial Intelligence aims to explore a new scientific research model with a big cross of the whole chain, lead the school information discipline to the top, and serve the national/regional economic and social development with high quality. Empower the dominant disciplines in the school, highlighting the characteristics of computer vision, pattern recognition, spatial data calculation, social network analysis, artificial intelligence chips, machine translation and so on.
Give play to the cross advantages of intelligent sonar, intelligent energy power health, artificial intelligence chip semiconductor preparation, etc., enhance the connotation of artificial intelligence discipline, and form an AI advantage direction with Xiamen University characteristics; Strengthen strategic cooperation with first-class enterprises outside the school, enjoy intellectual property rights, provide technical services and empower the AI industrial chain.
In 20021and 2022, 20 high-level PI teams were established respectively, and in 2023, 16 high-level PI teams will be established.
Around the basic theory of artificial intelligence, machine learning, artificial intelligence chips, semiconductor brain devices, natural language processing, cognitive neuroscience, machine perception and machine vision, pattern recognition and data mining, artificial intelligence security, artificial intelligence+(cross) and other research directions, nearly 300 full-time graduate students were recruited, taught and trained.
In the future, with the attention and support of the government and schools, the Institute of Artificial Intelligence will further give full play to its academic advantages, rely on first-class enterprises, gather and train high-end AI talents, develop and apply high-level achievements, build artificial intelligence academic research bases, discipline construction bases and Industry-University-Research integration bases, actively integrate and serve Xiamen's economic and social development, and radiate the surrounding areas.
