Xiangxi yellow cattle is one of the excellent local breeds in China. It is mainly distributed in Yongshun County, Fenghuang County, Huayuan County, Longshan County, Jishou City, luxi county, Guzhang County and Baojing County of Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture of Hunan Province, Cili County and Yongding County of Zhangjiajie, Xinhuang of Huaihua, central Hunan, southern Hunan and western Hubei, Qianjiang District of Chongqing and Tongren District of Guizhou Province. 1In April, 1982, six southern provinces (cities) of China held an appraisal meeting of fine varieties of yellow cattle in Fenghuang County, and determined that the central producing area of Xiangxi yellow cattle was Liubo Township, Fenghuang County. In May, 2007, with the approval of the Ministry of Agriculture, Xiangxi Yellow Cattle Reserve was the La 'er Mountain Area in Fenghuang County.
