Previously, the characteristic towns were mainly managed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and the National Development and Reform Commission, as the national macro-comprehensive management department, shouldered the historical responsibility of promoting development and deepening reform. The four ministries and commissions jointly issued a document, handing over the application approval authority of characteristic towns to the National Development and Reform Commission for management, indicating that the country attaches importance to characteristic towns, and that the development of characteristic towns not only affects the construction events of the real estate market, but also is an important economic event behind China's economic development and deepening reform.
