Lecture 8 of Scientific Research Papers —— Title, Key Words and Abstracts
In order to make it easier and faster for readers to get information from papers, economic papers have a certain structure. Thesis writing itself is also an art of Excellence. Economist Man Kun once asked Galbraith what was the secret of his successful writing. Galbraith replied that what he wrote would be revised many times, and he would not be basically satisfied until the fifth draft.

1. Title, keywords and abstract

The first page of a paper usually includes title, author, abstract, keywords and other information. The title is the label of the paper, just like the trademark or name of a commodity. We should choose a concise and attractive title to let readers know what this article mainly does. Under the title is the author's name, and in the footnote are the specific author's unit, contact information, words of thanks (including fund support) and "at your own risk". If there are more than one author, one of them should be chosen as a "correspondent author", who is responsible for submitting the manuscript and keeping in touch with the editorial department. Below the title and the author, it is usually an abstract, which is generally around 100 words. It is necessary to highlight the significance, research methods and main conclusions of this paper.

The average reader will read the abstract first, and then decide whether to read the full text.

Abstracts of papers should be carefully selected to highlight the main contributions of papers and arouse readers' interest in further reading. It is usually written after the main body of the paper is completed, because at this time, the author will have a clearer concept of the main content of the paper. Below the abstract, several keywords are usually provided so that readers can search for this article according to the keywords. Keywords often come from the title of the paper. Under the keyword, you may also provide the JEL classification number, which is the classification number of various fields of economics in the Journal of Economic Literature sponsored by the American Economic Association.
