Daiyu
I remember watching the Red Chamber (watching TV) when I was a child, and I liked Lin Daiyu very much. One is because the actress who plays Daiyu is beautiful, and the other is because she likes the melancholy temperament in her bones (is it because teenagers simply love to learn melancholy? ) I experienced a lot of things later, and sometimes I can't help but have some strange ideas. For example: Is Sister Lin in the Red Chamber really perfect? Does Lin Daiyu still have poor personality charm today?
In other words: What will happen to Sister Lin who was born in the present age?
Lin Daiyu gives the impression that she is naive, straightforward, sincere and single-minded, and at the same time lonely, noble, clean and sentimental. As a novel character, I can say that I still feel sorry for her. No wonder Baoyu gave up his "open-minded" and "all-round" wife Baochai and chose her. But-note that this is from the novel. If it is in today's real society, I doubt Baoyu's choice. Even if we put aside the differences in family background and life experience between Dai and Chai, it is not suitable for Baoyu or even for most people in society to analyze from Lin Daiyu's personality. Baochai is generous and easy to win people's hearts. Born in the contemporary era of paying attention to personal connections, she may be a successful person in society (a strong woman in politics, an entrepreneur, etc.). ) and become the head of the family, which will be her husband's right-hand man. Daiyu can't. Her innocence, frankness, loneliness, elegance and purity may be regarded by others as a lady with a bad temper, vitriol and lack of grace. Her sincerity, singleness and sentimentality may be considered as petty, and she doesn't care about trivial matters, and lacks the courage to communicate with others and fight against fate. The novel describes Daiyu's sensitivity, suspicion and fragility more than once. On the one hand, it is "aloof and arrogant", on the other hand, it has no psychological quality and fighting skills, and will only satirize others or choose to avoid burying flowers with tears. Such a person must be a loser who runs into a wall everywhere and is frustrated from time to time in such a competitive society. If Baoyu chooses her, it is estimated that she will be carefully cared for like a vase, ready to clean up the mess and shelter her from the wind and rain. This may be ok for other men, but don't forget that Baoyu is also a spoiled constantly chauffeured. How can he have extra energy to protect flowers when he is busy? So in the final analysis, Baodai's love is just a romantic fairy tale woven by novelists, which is difficult to realize in reality. Alas ... alas!
On the Characters in the Red Chamber (Ⅱ) —— On Baochai
..... I used to be a supporter of Sister Lin. Influenced by many people, I always thought that Xifeng's tricks forced Daiyu to death, and I didn't like her rival Baochai. Now I think my previous views were a little extreme in retrospect. ..... From the standpoint of the Jia family: If you were them, would you agree that the future family heir would marry Lin Daiyu? Lin Daiyu entered the Jia family, which liked it very much, and the ladies of the Jia family seemed to have the intention of fixing her and Baoyu. But later, she could not marry Baoyu. Isn't there any other reason why her personality is inferior to Baochai except her family background?
Why did Baochai get unanimous praise from everyone? I think it's because of her easy-going personality.
In A Dream of Red Mansions, Baochai is probably the most easygoing. I think her kindness is not "deeply influenced by feudal ethics, wearing a hypocritical mask and strictly observing feudal morality, which is deceptive", but a heartfelt humility and tolerance, which is the embodiment of personal quality. For example, in Jiafu, Aunt Zhao and Jia Huan are a pair of annoying characters, which others look down upon, including their closest relative Tan Chun. But Baochai can treat them equally and even tolerate their bad temper. Jia Huan and Ying Er, the servant girl, gave an idea to gamble, but Jia Huan lost and refused to pay back. Yinger was unconvinced and scolded Jia Huan for not being like a man, but Baochai generously begged Yinger to let him go, which fully reflected her thought of sacrificing herself for others. Besides, she doesn't look like a gesture. She not only gets along well with the masters in the Jia family, but also has a good relationship with the servants. -She treats the servant girl Yingying like her own sister, and never puts on airs as a master; She took Xiangling, who has a strong personality, and gave her a place to live; No one in the world thinks Baochai is bad ... it's not easy to do. Look at Wang Xifeng. She flatters her superiors, bullies her subordinates and makes superficial remarks.
It can be said that Baochai has almost no enemies in Jiafu. ...
Oh, no ... there is another one, and that is Lin Daiyu.
This is mainly because Lin Daiyu is jealous of Baochai and regards Baochai as her rival in love.
Baodai and Baodai both love Baoyu deeply. They have the same talent, appearance and status (both cousins, hehe). Obviously, they are the only people in Jia's family who are of the right age and worthy of Baoyu. They are almost natural rivals in love. However, throughout the Red Chamber, Baochai never seems to argue with Daiyu. -In this love triangle, Baoyu's attitude is ambiguous, both sides please, Baochai pays silently, and even when she has the advantage, she is still generous and patient, but it is Lin's seemingly weak sister who is aggressive everywhere!
Lin Daiyu entered Jiafu earlier than Baochai and came into contact with Baoyu earlier. Baoyu and she are really childhood friends and treat her much better than other sisters. However, she regards Baoyu as her personal belongings, always making things difficult for Baoyu and sneering whenever she has the opportunity ... Although the eyes of love can't get into the sand, these performances of Daiyu really show her selfish side. On the other hand, Baochai, with her cleverness, can't understand the implication of Daiyu, but are there any examples of her refuting Daiyu besides arguing with her in poetry books? Don't! Doesn't Baochai care about Baoyu? Probably not. In the novel, Baochai intentionally sings with Aunt Xue and Yinger, and boldly confesses to Baoyu. It can be seen that Baochai is not unwilling to fight, but is more easygoing than Daiyu and far better at treating people.
Later, in Baoyu's marriage, Jia's parents decided Baochai instead of Daiyu-it was almost doomed.
Some people may say that this is because Daiyu's life experience is not as good as Baochai's, and her health is not good-this is of course all the reasons, but I think that the decisive role is ultimately the personality difference between the two.
Let's look at the evaluation of Baochai by Grandmother Jia: "(Baochai) is gentle and peaceful. Although she is young, she is several times stronger than an adult." "She is tolerant and easy-going." "It's really one in a million." "How can a wife not hurt her in-laws? It can be seen that the focus of the elderly in choosing a wife is mainly on personality. Don't forget that this is Jia Mu, who is famous for loving Daiyu. Daiyu first entered Jia Fu and lived with Jia Fu. When Xifeng raised money for her birthday, the Jia family shared a share and gave the rest to Daiyu and Baoyu. Watching them grow up from childhood is a great love for them. Of course, it is impossible for grandma to know about Daiyu and Baoyu. I believe that she promised Baoyu that Daiyu would be a child bride, otherwise they would have been torn down long ago, but in the end, Daiyu, who was brought up by the grandmother, voted against it and chose a baby girl who was not very close. Why? Thought-provoking. -Jia Banburi should think more about the happiness of his children and grandchildren than about Jia's future design. Marrying a Xue Baochai will not change the fate of the four families. I think-from Daiyu's being around Jia for so many years, she is deeply loved, but she is not filial to Jia, so we can know the reason.
What's good about Baoyu?
First, he is the only amorous son and honest man in the Jia family (and he is single, hehe ...)
I think he is the only one in the Jia family who really treats all the women in the Grand View Garden well. He only admires the posture of Daiyu and Baochai, and only pays attention to his heart, except for his "first love" with xiren in the bud. Although the relationship with Qingwen, Miaoyu and Jin Chaier is a bit ambiguous, they can basically "stop at the heart and stop at the ceremony" and maintain a pure friendship. He may have wavered about Daiyu and Baochai, but he mainly likes Daiyu. For example, he envies Baochai's figure, but what he thinks in his heart is "I wish I could grow up on Sister Lin", which shows that his concept of love is quite single-minded and serious. Compared with Jia Lian and others, he doesn't know how much he won. Jia Lian is interesting but dishonest. The girl stole one after another. And it's mostly for fun. For example, if you marry Second Sister You and accept Qiu Tong, you will give Xifeng a chance to be impeded. Second Sister You went to the funeral after her death, fearing that Xifeng would be angry, she dared not go. ..... I'm afraid this is not the case with Baoyu. (But honest people sometimes try to have sex with girls, hehe ... to prove that this boy is not wood. )
Second, brilliant and personable.
Although Xi Jiangyue's two poems criticized Baoyu for nothing, saying that he was "down and out, stubborn and afraid of reading articles", "even if he was born in a good skin, his stomach was careless" and "the world is incompetent first", in fact Baoyu was afraid of reading only four books and five classics, but he read a lot of scattered books. His poetic skills are skillful and impressive. If you don't study, I'm afraid you can't do it. Being unsophisticated mainly means being honest and innocent with others and saying what is in your heart. But he is not a nerd who lacks muscles. Sometimes I will play tricks to make girls happy, such as fanning Qingwensi; Deliberately clumsy in poetry, always "down" and "down" With Baoyu's wit, he won't lose his temper with Qingwen, and with his poetic talent, he won't be so clever every time. In doing so, he fully showed his mind and demeanor. He has an idea-naturally different from a madman who knows nothing.
Third, the treatment of women can be said to be a model of feminists.
He is kind to others, especially to women. "The clock of heaven and earth is for women, and men are just scum and filth" (original words, just checked. Hee hee ... I wonder if a man can say such a thing. ) fully embodies his respect for women.
Baoyu is the future Rong Guogong, and has a high position in Jiafu. But the maids around him seldom regard him as a master. Let's take a look at his first appearance: "... I didn't say a word, but I heard a burst of footsteps outside. The maid came in and said with a smile," Baoyu is here! " "As a servant girl, I dare to call my master by his first name, which shows that Baoyu is easy-going. This point can be better reflected in the plot of Qingwen tearing the fan. Qingwen is just an ordinary girl. Just because Baoyu talks heavily, she can be childish and beg Baoyu to let her tear up the fan as an apology. Baoyu actually did it, treating others with an equal attitude, without any pride. Such a good temper is beyond the reach of other rich people.
Fourth, there is no lack of ambition and courage to resist.
Baoyu doesn't like reading and doesn't take exams for Jinshi. Therefore, it is regarded as "wealth does not know happiness" and "the country home is hopeless". But is this really the criterion for judging talents? He may not be suitable for being an official, but he is good at literature and likes to get to the bottom of it. He may be a research-oriented talent today. He is a bit of a sissy, crying and seems to lack masculinity. But he has his own set of beliefs and ideals. In order to pursue free marriage, he did not hesitate to abandon fame and fortune (a typical example of not loving mountains and rivers and loving beauty) and break with feudal families. In some people's eyes, it may be a lack of progress, but from the beauty of his love, it is a blessing to have such a spoony man. (The West advocates this flamboyant personality, and there is nothing wrong with loving beauty. People can only focus on one thing, and not loving Jiangshan does not mean that he has no sense of responsibility.
