After the final exam, I received letters from my uncle and aunt inviting me to live with them for two weeks. They live in the country near a beautiful mountain. The news brought me a sleepless night. The next morning, after nearly a day's bus ride, I arrived at their home and received their friendly reception. They prepared a very beautiful and airy room for me. Just entering the room, I found a bottle of roses-my favorite flower-on a small table. I thank them for their kindness. When they left me to rest, I really couldn't do it. My attention was taken away by the charming picturesque scenery outside the window. If I were an artist, I would draw a wonderful picture.
Every morning we take a walk in the nearby mountains, where we can enjoy the fresh air and the sweet songs of birds. We collect wild flowers everywhere in the bushes, which I find interesting.
In the afternoon, I spent most of my time reading and writing, because I was shut in the house by the heat. Locked in the house by terrible heat at night. Evening is the only time when we can go swimming together. During those two weeks, I greatly improved my swimming level.
Although two weeks passed at lightning speed, the memory of it will last forever.
I often visit my grandparents during the summer vacation. They are all seventy years old and live happily in the country. The summer scenery in the countryside is very beautiful. I can do many interesting things there. I am used to getting up early in the morning, breathing fresh air, listening to birds singing, enjoying green trees, red flowers and rivers. I like fishing with my friends.
When night came, my grandmother and I sat under the tree and listened to her tell me many interesting stories. I told her something new happened in this city. When I have to go back, I am always reluctant to leave. I really feel happy living in the country.
This summer vacation is the most enjoyable. I spent 15 days helping my grandparents do farm work in the countryside, where I saw Shan Ye full of green plants. Sometimes I go swimming in the river in the west of the village, where the water is very clear.
I keep a diary every day. Besides doing farm work, I also help my neighbor's children with their homework. They are all interested in English. They can read and write well. They can hardly understand simple English. So I spend about two hours every morning to help them improve their English listening and speaking. They have all made great progress. Both their parents speak highly of me. I now realize that this country is in great need of knowledge.
