Should middle school students read leisure books and argumentative papers?
Key points of writing: put forward your own views concisely, then discuss them, and quote some famous sayings and examples when necessary to strengthen the expression of your own views.

"Idle books" should be banned.

"Casual books" are also extracurricular books. The extracurricular books that students read must be books they choose according to their interests, or classics or popular books. Reading has advantages and disadvantages, and the disadvantages are considerable, so it should be banned, not banned.

The reason why schools prohibit reading "idle books" is naturally because it wastes energy and affects learning. That's true. On the one hand, "leisure books" are mostly books that students read voluntarily. Once read, they may "forget to eat and sleep" day and night. In this way, students' time will inevitably be occupied, and the subject study time will naturally be greatly reduced.

There is a saying in the original Tao Xun of Huainanzi that "the sage does not value the jade of the ruler, but the yin of the inch". Time is so precious that it is a pity to waste too much. On the other hand, "idle books" may be unhealthy and easy to spread some negative energy, which will lead to some students' ideological poisoning. "The Book of Rites" says that "from the emperor to Shu Ren, all of them are based on self-cultivation". Although the ancients said that "opening a book is beneficial", such a "volume" cannot cultivate one's morality, and opening a book has disadvantages, so don't read it.

However, everything is divided into two. Not allowing reading "casual books" may be counterproductive. If reading "leisure books" is not allowed, reading will become a very utilitarian behavior. Students always study before and after exams. How can they be interested in reading? How can we have extensive knowledge?

Reading ability is the basis for students to learn all subjects well. Instead of reading "scattered books" and only reading textbooks and teaching AIDS, it is impossible to improve Chinese literacy and reading ability. The desire to improve students' academic performance may only be a flower in the mirror and a moon in the water.

What's more, "looking casually" has advantages and disadvantages, and it is not appropriate to look only at the bad side. Some so-called "light books", such as Harry Potter, Three-body and Charles IX, have healthy contents and high writing level. Reading such books in students' spare time can not only stimulate their imagination and improve their language level, but also make them feel relaxed and happy and become an excellent tonic for the spirit.

Don't think that reading too many "idle books" will take up students' study time and have no positive significance for their growth; In fact, on the contrary, reading some extracurricular books at ordinary times is a good supplement to daily classroom learning.

Parents, teachers and school leaders should take a long-term view. Students' interest in extracurricular reading is very valuable, and this interest cannot be stifled because of exams. Teachers and parents should give some guidance to students' extracurricular reading, but there is no need to interfere too much. If students have been in school for more than ten years, they have not read a few books except textbooks and teaching AIDS, and they have not formed reading hobbies and habits, which is also a very sad thing.

Cultivating reading habits is to lay the foundation for students' life and cultivate their good lifestyle, so "idle books" should be banned, not banned.
