(1) Teachers have long been confused about whether higher vocational students should finish their graduation thesis. Even in undergraduate colleges, there are motions to cancel graduation thesis. The reasons are as follows: firstly, higher vocational graduates, like undergraduates, demand too much for the completion of graduation thesis; Secondly, the problems in students' writing mentioned in the previous guidance process, such as the limited writing level of students, insufficient accumulation, and problems in individual students' learning attitude, make it very difficult for teachers to guide; Third, the number of articles directed by teachers in a limited time is too large, and the workload of teachers is too heavy. Graduation thesis is an important teaching link for students to summarize their learning achievements, consolidate their comprehensive knowledge, conduct professional training and cultivate their ability to find and solve problems. This paper holds that higher vocational education, as an integral part of higher education, requires its graduates to complete their graduation thesis, which is also a common practice in many countries in the world. In some advanced countries, special attention is paid to students' research-based learning, and even primary and middle school students have to complete research-based learning assignments, which can also be called papers and research reports, at least small papers; On the other hand, from the demand of professional activities, in a person's career, people should constantly communicate with the outside world, communicate with superiors, other internal departments and subordinates, and constantly sum up their work. There is no doubt that the cultivation of writing ability is extremely important for the development of personal career. To solve the above puzzles, we can hope to improve school resources. As teachers, what we can do is mainly to guide students to collect materials from practical and professional fields through reasonable arrangement and planning, and to improve students' thesis level through training.

(2) Advocating that the topic selection of higher vocational thesis should be closely linked with practice and comprehensively promote students' employment, which is reflected in the topic selection. On the premise of students' professional knowledge application and business skills training, we should actively choose the application topics put forward from practice as far as possible. The topic selection is practical and can provide students with a way to apply what they have learned, solve or deeply understand a practical problem and accumulate practical experience. The topic selection is practical, which can not only serve the production and operation, but also be tested by the production and operation practice. Students can be honed and improved in practice and should be strongly advocated. It is suggested that all or part of thesis writing should be brought into practice teaching.
