Abstract: Clothing culture is a unique cultural phenomenon of human beings. Because China and the West have different aesthetic concepts, different dress concepts and different dress etiquette, Chinese and Western dress cultures with different connotations and characteristics have been formed. This paper is divided into four parts. The first part describes the different characteristics of Chinese and western costumes and why people wear clothes. The second part describes the cultural differences between Chinese and western costumes. The third part analyzes the Chinese and western costume culture. The last part introduces the aesthetic culture and clothing concept of Chinese and western clothing. On the basis of analysis, the paper finally draws a conclusion. Chinese and western costume cultures have rich connotations and distinctive features, which are precious cultural heritages left by human ancestors and world cultural heritages. At the same time, we cherish our 5,000-year civilization, not belittle ourselves. It is of great significance to carry forward and develop our unique clothing culture. We are confident to make contributions to the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the enrichment of the world's clothing culture.
