On the other hand, if it weren't for Emperor Gaozong, Han Shizhong and Yue Fei, who could resist it? If it weren't for Emperor Gaozong, Qin Gui would have returned to the south, but after the Southern Song Dynasty, several monarchs were still the second emperor Nan Ming, and probably the second Cao Cao. Emperor Gaozong ascended the throne, just as Yue Fei said: "Li Yuan has a return, and the state owns it, which is enough to defeat the people." As for the problem of killing Yue Fei, it is more complicated. First of all, it is a misunderstanding that the hawks in the Southern Song Dynasty are not a kind person. Even Xin Qiji is a generous and affectionate person as people imagine, but he is a lean man in troubled times and a government official. In Jia Xuan's words, he is "killing people like grass and spending money like water". Yue Fei's attitude towards the Second Emperor has been shown in his paper, which is self-attested. This became the shame of Emperor Gaozong, but if he was really incompetent, it was the poverty of Bohr, a lost dog who fled to the south. Under the influence of the small regime and Zong Bi, the God of War, how did he stabilize the situation? As far as the Northern Expedition is concerned, the Northern Expedition of Han Ya and Zhou Xi also involved the revival of Neo-Confucianism and the downfall of Ye Shi, which reversed the situation since the party ban in Qingyuan. In 282, Jade of Xiaoling was defeated by Ma Shiying and Ruan Dacheng, and the figures in the late Ming Dynasty and the Song Dynasty were not the same.
Strange injustice through the ages: Why must Yue Fei die?
Although the regime of the Southern Song Dynasty has temporarily settled down, there are nomadic people outside, and they may go south again at any time. There are Youkou clique and peasant rebels, which greatly threaten the rule of Song Ting. In this case, Emperor Gaozong had to give up the ancestral family law of suppressing military commanders and deliberately woo them. The most famous general at that time was the "Four Generals of Zhongxing" after Du Nan. Among them, Liu Guangshi was born in Gateshown, and his father paid tribute to our times. He himself had an uprising with his father Fang La in his early years; Zhang Jun and Han Shizhong, both soldiers, followed during the Jingkang period and made great achievements in quelling the rebellion of Miao and Liu. Yue Fei is the most junior one, but in just a few years, his exploits and fame surpassed those of other generals. In August of the fourth year of Shaoxing, after Song Ting recovered six counties in Xiang Han, he was appointed as our time of Qingyuan Army, and his position was comparable to that of Liu Guangshi, Zhang Jun and Han Shizhong.
Emperor Gaozong would only use military commanders if he could not reconcile with the Jin people. His purpose is only self-defense, and he has no intention of resuming the Northern Expedition. The lost land recovered by Yue Fei was actually taken from the puppet regime established by the Jin people. Before Yue Fei sent troops, Emperor Gaozong understood that his style was different from that of other generals, and deliberately laid hands on him, telling him that he only needed to recover the land captured by the puppet troops, and never led the army north to offend the Jin people, otherwise even if he made a meritorious military service, he would have to go to hell to pay. This imperial edict firmly bound Yue Fei's hands and feet. Plus YueGuJun forces less than thirty thousand, unable to carry out the northern expedition. Therefore, after recovering Xiang Han, Yue Fei had to lead the main force to retreat to Ezhou.

Facing the attack of the Jin people, Emperor Gaozong was always reluctant to give up surrender and peace. Although four years later, Yue Fei, Han Shizhong and others led the troops to repel the two invasions of Jin and Puppet Qi, they didn't want to take advantage of this excellent opportunity to carry out the Northern Expedition, but their achievements only provided him with chips to make peace with the rulers. Just as the local anti-gold struggle has won one victory after another, the peace envoys sent by Emperor Gaozong are in an endless stream. At the end of seven years in Shaoxing, the Song Dynasty brought peace to Wang Lun from the Jin Dynasty. The ruler asked the Southern Song Dynasty to be a vassal and pay the annual currency. In exchange, the ruler promised to depose the puppet Qi, return the coffins of the emperor and Webster's mother, and return the land in Henan. The emperor was overjoyed to hear the news, which strengthened his determination to bend his knees and make peace. He also sent Wang Lun to fight for gold to discuss specific peace talks with the rulers.
The decision of Emperor Gaozong's peace talks was strongly opposed by the ruling and opposition parties, and the opinions of several heavily armed generals were crucial to the successful signing of the peace talks. In August of the eighth year of Shaoxing, Emperor Gaozong called Han Shizhong, Zhang Jun and Yue Fei into the DPRK, hoping to persuade them at least not to oppose the peace talks. Zhang Jun has always been afraid of nomads from the army, and has tried to avoid confrontation with nomads from all previous battles. He is also very good at pleasing Yue Fei, so he immediately expressed his support for the peace talks. Han Shizhong and Yue Fei resolutely opposed it, and Yue Fei made it clear to Gao Zong: "Yi Di cannot be trusted, so we can't rely on it. If I am not good at the country, I will be laughed at by future generations. " These righteous words made the emperor jealous of Yue Fei.
In fact, before this, Yue Fei had offended Gao Zong on two major issues. The general who is honest and the most resolute in resisting gold is brave and resourceful on the battlefield, but he seems to lack calculation in political struggle and is too bad at protecting himself.
In March of the 7th year of Shaoxing, Song Ting dismissed Liu Guangshi, one of the "Four Generals of Zhongxing". The emperor promised to hand over the army of Huaixi led by Liu Guangshi to Yue Fei, but Yue Fei believed it and thought that his strength was greatly enhanced. Excited, he immediately proposed to lead the troops to start the Northern Expedition with 65,438+10,000 yuan, which was the taboo of the emperor. Emperor Gaozong temporarily changed his mind and refused to hand over Huaixi's army to Yue Fei. The emperor broke his word and Yue Fei was very angry. In a rage, he left Ezhou, the resident of our army, and went to Lushan in the name of his mother's filial piety. In Emperor Gaozong's view, this kind of behavior was obviously threatening the monarch, but at that time, the threat of the nomads from the army was still there, and the time was not ripe to remove Yue Fei's military power. To this end, Emperor Gaozong issued three more letters to comfort Yue Fei and urged him to go down the mountain. In June, Yue Fei returned to North Korea and pleaded guilty to Gao Zong. While expressing his forgiveness, Emperor Gaozong quoted Mao's words that "the only person who violated my law was Jian Er" as a warning, and there was a hidden danger in the words.
Letter from Emperor Gaozong to Yue Fei
The second thing happened in August of the same year. Yue Fei, who returned to North Korea soon, kindly suggested that Emperor Gaozong establish a prince as soon as possible. Zhao Fu, the only son of Emperor Gaozong, died eight years ago. He was defeated in Yangzhou, frightened and lost his fertility. But when Emperor Gaozong was only 30 years old, he still had hope of bearing children. At this time, he established a prince. In his view, he undoubtedly exposed his secret to the world. The ancestral home law of the Song Dynasty also stipulated that military commanders should not interfere in state affairs. Therefore, Yue Fei's suggestion once again violated two taboos and deepened the emperor's jealousy of him.
These two events, as well as the uncompromising stance on the recovery of gold, laid a curse for Yue Fei's future fate. In the eighth year of Shaoxing, the activities of making peace between Emperor Gaozong and Jin were in full swing, and the opposition of civil and military officials was growing. Only Qin Gui strongly supported the peace of Emperor Gaozong. In November, the rulers sent Zhang Tonggu down to the south of the Yangtze River, and the Song Dynasty sent Wang Lunnan. Among the titles of Jin envoys, "Song State" is called "Jiangnan", and the exchange of information between hostile countries should be called "Guo Xin", and the Jin Dynasty called it "imperial decree". Obviously, this is a deliberate humiliation of the Southern Song Dynasty by the Jin people. The next request of the Jin people was unacceptable to the subjects of the Southern Song Dynasty. The envoys of the Jin people actually asked the emperor to bow down and receive the letter. In order to drag out an ignoble existence, Emperor Gaozong didn't mind these things. He solemnly said: "As long as the people can avoid the pain of swords and shadows and soldiers, I can sacrifice my dignity for peace talks." However, Yue Fei's handwriting
The emperor has this "good intention", but his subjects are unwilling to "appreciate". People inside and outside the imperial court were furious, and the protest movement reached an unprecedented momentum and scale. Lin' an citizens even posted eye-catching placards on the street: "Qin Xianggong (Qin Gui) is a masterpiece (spy)!" Although it was directed at Qin Gui, it actually expressed strong dissatisfaction with Gao Zong. Although Emperor Gaozong became angry from embarrassment and demoted the fiercely opposed ministers one by one, he had to be cautious in the face of strong public pressure. In December, Emperor Gaozong took Huizong Xiaoshun as an excuse, and Qin Gui and other ministers of slaughter and governance bowed down to Jin Shi on his behalf and accepted the credentials of the ruler.
The emperor thought that the matter of peace had been settled and he could enjoy peace from now on, so he pardoned the world and promoted his rank and title to minister of civil and military affairs. After receiving the promotion letter, Yue Fei immediately wrote to express his refusal, reminding him that Jin people could not be trusted, and reiterated his ambition to lead the Northern Expedition. The emperor and Qin Gui hated Yue Fei at this time, and a plot to get rid of Yue Fei was already brewing.
Sure enough, as Yue Fei expected, in May of the tenth year of Shaoxing, the Jin people tore up the peace talks and invaded the south again, and Yue Fei led the army to the front line against Jin. With the attacks of nomads from Sichuan, Shaanxi, Huai and other places frustrated one after another, Song Jun entered the strategic counterattack, and Yue Fei marched into the Central Plains. He ordered Liang Xing, the former leader of the anti-Jin Rebel Army, to cross the Yellow River, contact the Hebei Rebel Army, form a "loyalty and justice patrol society", and capture Hedong and Hebei counties to realize his strategic policy of "connecting the river with the new moon", and at the same time personally led the troops into Yancheng. In July, Jin assembled a large army and rushed from Kaifeng to Yancheng. Yue Jiajun was outnumbered and defeated the nomads from there. So Wu Shu turned to attack Yingchang. Yue Fei has long been prepared for this, and has ordered his eldest son, Yue Yun, to go to support in advance. Wu Shu was hit hard by Yue Jiajun again in Yingchang. Yue Jiajun pursued the victory and reached Zhuxian Town, which is only 45 miles away from Kaifeng. Northern rebels also responded in succession, recovering some counties in the north and south of the Yellow River. Nomads from the army had to lament that "it is easy to shake the mountain, but difficult to shake the Yue family" and planned to give up Kaifeng and cross the river and flee north.
Anti-Jin Yijun seal
Yue Jiajun's successive victories are of course not conducive to the resumption of peace talks between Emperor Gaozong and Qin Gui and the rulers. They even signed a gold plate of 12, urging Yue Fei to transfer troops immediately. At this time, tens of thousands of Yuegujun have recovered a lot of lost land, the front line is too long and the troops are scattered. And other troops also received the order to retreat, Zhang Jun, Han Shizhong, Liu Yong and other departments have been transferred. Without the support of the rear and the cooperation of friendly forces, it is really difficult for Yue Fei to go deep into the country and recover his homeland alone. Under the pressure of the situation and life-and-death, Yue Fei refused the plea of the people of Liangjiang to continue the Northern Expedition against his will and ordered the deployment of troops. On the day of withdrawing troops, he couldn't help but deeply regret that he "wasted ten years of strength"! The most promising Northern Expedition was thus destroyed by Emperor Gaozong and Qin Gui.
In the first month of the 11th year of Shaoxing, Wu Shu led nearly 65,438+10,000 troops to make a comeback and directly attack Huaixi. The emperor ordered Yue Fei stationed in Ezhou to lead troops to reinforce Huaixi, but Yue Fei's reinforcements had not yet reached the battlefield, and Yang Cunzhong, Liu Kun and Wang De had already defeated the nomads from Gao Zhe. Zhang Jun was ready to make contributions, so he sent Yue Fei and others back to the army. Unexpectedly, Kong Yanzhou was taken by Li, captured Bozhou, and killed Yang Cunzhong, who came to help. By the time the reinforcements led by Yue Fei arrived, the nomads from the army had crossed Huaibei safely.
Yue Fei went to aid Huaixi twice, but the action seemed to be slow. He is famous for his quick use of troops, which is a great anomaly. The reason is that Yue Fei was said to have a cold for the first time and the army was short of food for the second time. It is not clear whether anyone is dissatisfied with Gao Zong's obstruction of his Northern Expedition. But whatever the actual situation, it became an excuse for Qin Gui to frame him later.
After the war in Huaixi, Emperor Gaozong stepped up the activities of cutting the military power of military commanders. Since the establishment of the Southern Song Dynasty, he had to rely heavily on military commanders to resist the nomads from outside. As a result, the military commanders' power rose, posing a potential threat to the imperial power. So, in April of the 11th year of Shaoxing, Emperor Gaozong summoned Zhang Jun, Han Shizhong and Yue Fei to Lin 'an, and appointed Zhang Jun and Han Shizhong as Tang envoys and Yue Fei as agreement, which was called promotion. In fact, it took away the military power of the three generals, and the army under the jurisdiction of the three generals directly obeyed the emperor from now on.
Then, the emperor and Qin Gui pointed the finger at Yue Fei. In July, Qin Gui's best friend Wan Sixie inherited the above ideas and impeached Yue Fei in the last chapter. He seized the opportunity of Yue Fei's AWOL, private visit to Lushan Mountain and failure to help Huaixi in time, and made a big fuss to prevent Zhang Jun from withdrawing from Huaidong and planting it on Yue Fei. Yue Fei realized that he was in danger and wrote to resign, pleading with Gao Zong to "save from the beginning" and let himself go, but Gao Zong hated Yue Fei for a long time and did not intend to show mercy at all.
The above-mentioned "crimes" alone are not enough to kill Yue Fei. Qin Gui also ordered Zhang Jun to coerce Yue Fei's subordinates, Wang Gui and Wang Jun, falsely accusing Yue Fei of plotting to coerce Zhang Xi 'an to return troops to Yue Fei and plotting to rebel. Zhang Xian was escorted to Dali Temple for interrogation. Under torture, Zhang Xian still refused to confess. I finally got rid of Yue Fei's opportunity. How could the emperor let it go easily because of insufficient evidence? He decided to let Dali Temple try Yue Fei's case. 10, Yue Fei, was put into Dali Temple prison, and Cheng and Dali Qing in the suggestion were afraid to be interrogated by imperial edict on Wednesday. He Zhu questioned many times, but could not produce any evidence of Yue Fei's rebellion. At the trial, he saw the words "faithfully serve the country" tattooed on his back. He knew Yue Fei's loyalty and innocence, so he had a debate with Qin Gui. Qin Gui carried out Emperor Gaozong and told him clearly: "This is also a good idea." In other words, Emperor Gaozong wanted to kill Yue Fei. He Zhu said angrily: "I wanted to kill a general for the life of Yue Fei, but my strong enemy was not destroyed." Will certainly lose the morale of the army for no reason. It is definitely not a long-term solution for the country! " Because He Zhu couldn't kill Yue Fei, he summoned the emperor, changed his life to Cheng in the suggestion, and forged unjust imprisonment. Yue Fei was tortured and knew that he had no chance to defend himself. In prison, he wrote painfully: "It's sunny every day! It's dawn! " Eight characters, issued a final protest to the emperor and Qin Gui.
I heard that Yue Fei was imprisoned for treason. Han Shizhong, who resigned and stayed sane at home, could no longer sit idly by. He asked Qin Gui face to face, what is the evidence of Yue Fei's rebellion? Qin Gui replied: "This matter is unnecessary." It means that there is about this thing. Han Shizhong said angrily: "How can the word' unwarranted' prevail in the world!" However, the emperor and Qin Gui have made up their minds to kill Yue Fei. In Gao Zong's view, getting rid of Yue Fei can not only make the peace talks go smoothly, but also shock other military commanders and set an example for them. It's killing two birds with one stone. Therefore, he did not hesitate to violate the ancestral law of "not killing ministers". In the 11th year of Shaoxing (1 14 1), on December 29th, he personally ordered Yue Fei to be poisoned with poisoned wine, and Zhang Xi 'an and Yue Yun were beheaded.
Yuefei tomb
Yue Fei joined the army at the age of 20 and died at the age of 39. He fought in the forefront of the War of Resistance Against Gold, never forgetting to take it as his duty to recover the Central Plains. Yue Jiajun, led by him, was disciplined and brave, which dealt a heavy blow to the nomads from the south. Someone once asked Yue Fei when the world would be peaceful. He replied: "Civil servants don't love money, and military officers will not hesitate to die, so the world will be peaceful." Indeed, such a decent official as Yue Fei, who doesn't keep concubines or seek personal gain, is very rare in ancient China society. But at that time, Yue Feiyue was honest and clean, and the more the emperor and Qin Gui hated him, the more they wanted to get rid of him. The last generation of anti-Jin generals did not die on the battlefield, but died in the hands of the imperial court they defended. Later generations can't help but feel sorry and sincerely admire his rebirth.
