It means that the research content of the published paper is related to the content of your thesis (dissertation), and it is generally a part of it.

For example, your thesis is about a complete radar system, and your thesis may only introduce the receiver part of this radar system, which can be called content correlation. But if you publish a small paper about poetry, which has nothing to do with radar, it can't be called content-related.
