Development prospect of UHV transmission
201September 25, 2003, the world's first 1000 kv UHV AC project on the same tower-Anhui Power Transmission to the East was officially put into operation. So far, the State Grid has built two 1000 kV AC projects and two 800 kV DC projects, which indicates that China has made new achievements in UHV construction. Liu Zhenya introduced: State Grid is building two 800 kV DC projects, and at the same time, it is developing 1 100 kV DC technology and equipment, with a transmission capacity of13.75 million kilowatts and an economic transmission distance of 5,000 kilometers, which will create conditions for the construction of trans-regional, transnational and transcontinental transmission channels. For example, Africa and the Middle East can be connected, and South America can form a large power grid.

State Grid has also established a systematic technical standard system for UHV and smart grid. At present, 356 enterprise standards, 90 industry standards and 44 national standards have been formulated, and international standards 19 have been compiled. UHV AC voltage has become the international standard voltage.

In this regard, Klaus Uhler, Chairman of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), pointed out that many countries in the world, like China, have uneven distribution of energy resources. For example, Germany needs to transport wind power from the north to the south through UHV. At the same time, UHV can reduce the loss of long-distance transmission and has a wide application prospect in other parts of the world. At present, China's UHV transmission technology is at the leading level in the world. As an international standard voltage, China's UHV AC voltage standard will be promoted to the world.

In addition, Joachim Schneider, chairman of the German Institute of Electrical Engineers (VDE), also said: We need long-distance transmission, and UHV is a good solution to the challenges faced by Germany and other countries after giving up nuclear power. It is reported that India, Brazil, South Africa and other countries are actively promoting the construction of UHV AC and DC projects, among which Brazil and other countries will adopt China's UHV technology.
