For a long time, English writing has been a headache for students and a difficult problem for teachers to improve their teaching level. I summarize my teaching experience in cultivating students' writing ability for many years as follows:
First, discuss in groups, reduce the difficulty and build confidence.
In teaching, I found that most students have no confidence to write a good composition by themselves. In order to make writing easier, I divide the students into groups of 4 to 6 people, each group. They can discuss content, genre, tense, person, paragraph arrangement and other very detailed things. Pay attention to two questions when grouping:
(1) The members of the group should sit close together and be able to discuss freely inside and outside the classroom.
(2) The members of each group are composed of students of different levels, and the group members can help each other to complete the discussion tasks.
Second, stimulate students' interest and choose materials from easy to difficult.
Interest is the best teacher for students. With interest, you will get twice the result with half the effort. Therefore, in the teaching process, the topics I choose to write are basically close to students' lives, which are of interest to students, and try to be consistent with the contents of each unit. For example, "My favorite ..." (people, pets, etc. ), the importance of plants, environmental protection, celebrating festivals, etc. Choosing a topic is very important, because the difficulty of the topic directly determines students' confidence and interest in writing.
Third, strengthen writing training in combination with daily teaching.
1, dictation. Try to arrange dictation of short stories, jokes, students' masterpieces, examples and beautiful paragraphs before each class, so that students can accumulate writing materials and learn to arrange them.
2. Recite beautiful sentences or paragraphs in the text. The topic of our writing must be related to the text we have learned. Good sentences and paragraphs can be flexibly added to the writing to add color to the composition.
3. Ask students to make sentences with key sentence patterns and special sentence patterns in class and homework exercises. Words and sentences are the basis of the article. Let students make sentences with key sentence patterns and special sentence patterns, especially those with great differences between English and Chinese.
Such as the southeast ","because so, if, too … to …, there is … and so on. Only by accumulating over time can you skillfully apply it in writing.
4. Arrange a fixed time for a good writing class.
I arrange writing classes every two weeks. Before writing, let students discuss in groups. Students are assigned different discussion tasks according to different topics, and the writing topics and genres are also different. Such as references or events, diaries, emails, greeting cards, abbreviations or extensions of words, rewriting, etc. To familiarize students with the writing characteristics and methods of compositions with different requirements. The specific arrangements are as follows:
(1) Chinese-English type composition. Students can write articles describing characters according to Chinese prompts, and the sentence structure is fixed.
(2) rewrite the essay. Give an article, let the students change the person or tense, and achieve the goal of skillfully using grammar.
(3) Imitate writing with examples. A good example can help them imitate their own composition.
(4) sorting. The arrangement of sentences or paragraphs can cultivate students' awareness of the layout of the article.
In short, make writing simple and students have the ability to finish it.
Fourth, cultivate good writing habits and master the skills of exam-oriented composition.
Good writing habits and exam-oriented composition skills are also important training goals.
1, capitalization, spelling, questioning, punctuation and writing norms of words and letters.
2. Carefully examine the questions and grasp the genre. Examining questions includes seeing clearly the format and genre requirements, and paying attention to the beginning and end. Try to write the beginning and end with common sentence patterns, which is the finishing touch.
3. Pay attention to tense, voice and person. For example, the narrative is used in the past tense, the introduction is in the present tense, the subject and predicate should be consistent, and the tense and voice should be appropriate.
4. Use appropriate conjunctions and express them in sections. Use conjunctions to make the article compact and paragraphs to make the article clear and logical.
5, leakage, serious modification. Check whether the genre format is correct; Whether the main points are complete; Whether the expression conforms to the habit; Whether the grammar is correct; Whether the cohesion between sentences and paragraphs is natural; Whether the capitalization and punctuation of words are correct.
In a word, writing a good composition requires not only students' interest and efforts, but also teachers' guidance and encouragement. It is feasible and effective to infiltrate the cultivation of writing ability into classroom teaching.
