Personally, if you just want to graduate with a degree, you should listen to the teacher, find a simple topic and handle the errand well, so that there will be no problems.

If you want to get an excellent graduation thesis, or do your own thing in a down-to-earth way, or want to work in video coding after graduation, I suggest you do video coding, and it's nothing to suffer for a while.
