How long can bats live?
1, the life span of animals is often closely related to their size. Large animals usually live longer than small animals. For example, African elephants can live up to 70 years, while ordinary house mice can only live 1 ~ 3 years. But some bats can live for 40 years, not only much longer than mammals of the same size, but also at least four times longer than other bats. These long-lived bats include the chrysanthemum-headed bat, the long-eared bat, the common vampire bat and the rat-eared bat.

2. The researchers analyzed the known characteristics related to life span, including body size, cave living habits, hibernation and so on. It also includes some information that has not been considered before, such as the body size difference between men and women. The results show that long-lived bats have the characteristics of long hibernation time and more effective energy conservation. For example, vampire bats can regulate their body temperature, which is very rare in mammals. This ability allows vampire bats to conserve energy when they can't suck blood.

3. Scientists have previously found that this ability to tolerate body temperature changes may improve the anti-infection ability of mammals. If humans can master these abilities of bats, their life span can reach 240 years.
