At the beginning of the 20th century, various new ideas were introduced into China, and ideas such as constitutional monarchy, democracy and Marxism-Leninism all had a certain influence in China. However, at that time, China was congenitally deficient, western learning spread to the east, lacking the soil and environment to nurture and nourish these ideas, rigid education and lack of talents. But at that time, education was extremely clean in the hands of scholars like Mr. Cai Yuanpei. Mr Cai advocates "freedom of thought and inclusiveness". He believes that universities should have a bright reading voice, their own arguments and the determination to defend their studies to the death. These scholars, like life, carefully care for a little light in that world, for fear of being touched by a trace of dust and going out at any time. When studying the history of Chinese and foreign education, the teacher introduced Cai Yuanpei and his educational thoughts, as well as his far-reaching influence on education. This makes me and countless people respect Mr. Cai.
This summer vacation, the commentator read Selected Works of Cai Yuanpei's Education. This book contains more than 280 papers, speeches, proposals, letters, etc. About Cai Yuanpei's Education not only reflects the development course and academic achievements of Mr. Cai Yuanpei's educational thought, but also reflects his prominent position and contribution in the history of modern education in China, which has important reference value for people to learn and practice Cai Yuanpei's educational thought. This book is edited by Mr. Gao Pingshu, a famous expert on China's modern history and Cai Yuanpei.
The first feeling of getting this book is heavy, and it's a little hard to start reading. Due to the limitation of my own ability to understand words, I still can't fully understand them after reading them several times. So, instead of following the steps, I chose something easy to understand. Just looking at it, I was attracted by Mr. Cai's integrity and philosophy.
In particular, his "Declaration of Refusing to Be the President of Peking University", Mr. Cai said that he could no longer be the president appointed by the government. He thinks it is unreasonable to send half-baked officials to inspect the school education work. Mr. Cai also said that he could no longer be an illiberal university president. He believes that universities should have freedom of thought, should not be bound by old ideas and should not be interfered by powerful forces. Mr. Cai also said that he could no longer be the principal of a school in Beijing. He openly said that Beijing is a bed bug nest. After reading this declaration, I can't help but give Mr. Cai a thumbs-up in my heart. I really admire this spirit, and I only declare my passion for the freedom of the university. Now, how many people can do this?
In addition, every speech by Teacher Cai is wonderful and I am deeply inspired. Let's start with "Speech at Xiaozhuang Normal School". Teacher Cai used several simple examples, such as "The little swallow saw the old swallow, imitated the same flying method and learned to fly"; "Kittens should learn from big cats to catch mice, and big cats must show them the posture of catching mice"; "When I was a child, I saw my parents talking and running away, and I was suggested to assimilate learning" ... thus clearly expounding the truth of "teaching and doing in one".
He talked about the integration of teaching and learning, the inadaptability of our previous school education and family life, and a school run by Mr. Dewey that "tells all the knowledge of the world from real life", which made me fantasize a lot. What will happen if children are in such a school?
Finally, Teacher Cai talked about the most important problem in China at present, that is, the amount of labor is not proportional to the harvest, which means that those who pay more earn less, and those who pay less gain more. Therefore, he put forward the view that if we want to improve all systems, we should start with farmers. He advocated the study of rural education, which I think is very good.
Mr. Cai is honest, unassuming, free-thinking, inclusive and honest. He dares to think, speak and do, which is an example for me to learn and the goal I pursue in life. I want to study hard, be diligent in reflection and be good at summing up, so that I can get closer to my goal.
Reflections on Selected Works of Cai Yuanpei's Education
Speaking of educational theory, all the boring and complicated theoretical knowledge about education comes to mind at once. The deep and dry taste makes ordinary people feel a little afraid of this word. However, the Selected Works of Cai Yuanpei's Education Theory written by Mr. Cai Yuanpei has changed the educational theory from lofty and unreachable in everyone's eyes to many substantive and operable contents.
Children who receive traditional education read the same books, do the same homework and repeat the same things every day. Every child's life looks similar, and every day is similar. Compared with the "copying" of traditional education, Mr. Cai Yuanpei advocates "respecting nature and developing individuality". As the name implies, children should proceed from their own physical and mental reality and develop their specialties in all aspects according to everyone's different characteristics.
Xiaojun in the class is a child who likes skipping rope very much, so when I started to sign up for triathlon, I thought of him at once, and he agreed happily. He skipped to my side and asked me in a lovely and immature children's voice, "Teacher, can I bring the rope to school to practice?" There seems to be something firm flashing in his eyes, a little beyond his age. Of course, it is excellent to take it seriously. I readily agreed with his idea and told him that he could practice in the open space during recess. I believe he will do well.
So you can often see Xiaojun practicing skipping rope in the open space in front of the classroom. The cold wind is still there, and it is naturally not as warm as the closed classroom outside. However, let the wind blow over his tender cheeks and hands, leaving red marks on them, or exercise causes cold air to pour into his body more. Just with the feeling of freezing cold, Xiaojun still kept his hands waving the rope and his feet beating, just like a flying butterfly, jumping out of the most touching dance in a season that did not belong to him. Even if he can only jump a few times at a time, he doesn't seem to care or care about the cold. As the saying goes, "newborn calves are not afraid of tigers", and the scene in front of them may be "children are not afraid of cold", and his heart is gradually moved by his efforts.
Education should not only teach children the necessary cultural knowledge, but also try to tap children's specialties, cultivate them in the corresponding direction and show each child's personality.
